Came here with friends and children for New Year's Eve meal. Selected here mainly because one of few places open. Set 7 course OK but expensive- wine breathtakingly expensive- cheapest bottle nearly 40 euro. But what put a real damper on the night were the other guests. Never seen a dining room so full of miserable people.
One of the first things we did after arriving in Reims was to check out the restaurants. A quick survey of the dubious Italian restaurants along the main strip convinced us to look elsewhere. Le Foch was highly recommended on the local website, but already fully booked when we made our way there in the afternoon. Just a few steps away was Le Spark. We managed to secure a reservation for 7 p.m. When we arrived at the appointed time, we found ourselves the first party to arrive. Other diners drifted in much later. Service was prompt. It was a no brainer when I saw the lobster degustation menu and the bargain price 39 euros for a veritable feast. I asked the dessert to be changed to another item on the a la carte menu and it was accommodated. My decision to switch was a good one as everyone fell in love with it yes, my other dining companions tucked into my serving to get a taste themselves. The wine list was extensive enough to offer lots of gems and reasonable as well. We enjoyed the dinner so much, we returned to the restaurant again on our last night in Reims. The waitress remembered us and gave us great service. Since my husband speaks fluent French, that helped too.
The area of this place is very nice, well placed seats/tables and a quit staff. The food was good and we liked the way the menu was served. The wines on the wine-list are good and reasonably priced.
Our table of four enjoyed an aperitif champagne, then settled into the seafood degustation with fresh langoustines and lobster as its core ingredients. We paired this will two bottle of the grand chardonnay and a couple of bottles of sparking Badoit. The bill was Euro 264, that's 66 Euro's each. This is not Michelin Star, nor are the prices. Bon appetite.
This restaurant was supposed to be a gastropub but its attached the golden tulip hotel. The decor was ok but the rest was poor. the service was average and the prices expensive. we did not go for the menu and went for a la carte with a starter and a main. My starter was slightly over cooked (Duck liver) but my main supposedly piglet was way over cooked and dry with little sauce. when you are paying 48 € for these two dishes you expect it to be perfect. Now the service, we had a couple of glasses of champagne(average) and we expected to have an amuse bouche or something considering we ordered al carte but we recieved nothing. (not even olives or peanuts) After sitting there for 30 mins they then decided to give us some bread for our starters. Overall we were very disapointed with this restaurant and am sure if you look around there are much better. We paid 137 € for two without dessert or coffee which was expensive which we are by the way prepared to pay if the experience merits it and in this case it certainly did not.
