Humble homely place with warm family centred small eatery. Chef Tommy and his sister Pat originally from northern Thailand between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai started up this place with family recipes. The food is absolutely delicious different to the Thai food you'd typically see in Australia. The recipes are fresher less heavy on coconut milk and they've also tailored them to be less spicy. What User doesn't like about Samgasat Thai Cuisine By Tom:
This restaurant has a good range of dishes including vegetarian and vegan options, although the ‘veggie delights’ in one vegan dish were a little dense. Fish dishes are excellent. The main detractor is the constant noise from the semi-open kitchen. Maybe better for takeaway than eat in. View all feedback.
I highly recommend this restaurant, as we had a wonderful dinner there last night. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff was very friendly and managed to find us a table for two. I suggest making a booking, as the locals really enjoy this place and it was almost full by the time we finished our meal. We began our meal with Chang Mai sausage and crispy rice balls, both of which were delicious. The freshly made sausage was particularly fantastic. For our main course, we had the Thai whole fish Snapper, which was cooked perfectly. The presentation of all the dishes was beautiful and the flavors of Northern Thai cuisine really stood out. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The appetizer was flavorless and too fried. The sauce had an unusual bone-like texture. The main dish was king prawns that were so hot I had to peel them before eating. The stools with holes in the center were uncomfortable. Drinking out of candle holders instead of glasses made me feel queasy. Overall, I left the restaurant feeling unimpressed.
This was our second visit in a month. When you are jammed in like sardines, you've got to expect it to be noisy. But last week it was impossible to hold a conversation without raising our voices. Some dishes are brilliant whilst others were drowning in cabbage and zucchini with little meat. We thought we had found a gem, but a very disappointing second visit has proved otherwise.
The only reason we came to Samgasat was due to a recommendation from a local friend. Interestingly, the hotel staff had no idea about this place. In a blink and you’ll miss it moment this restaurant is tucked away in an unassuming corner. First thing you’ll notice when you walk inside is that the place is packed and EVERYONE has order the fish. This you must do. We also had the red curry salad and spicy beef. Mind you this is way too much for two people… prepare to roll home
