Prophet Restaurant The - Redfern

Two of my friends and I met at the Prophet yesterday for a get together and a nice meal. It is a good few years since I had been there and I am pleased to say that nothing has changed. The same standard of great food is still served up. Nothing fancy, just good honest traditional Lebanese food. Our waiter was very efficient and took time to explain some of the dishes on the menu and then left us in peace to eat and natter.Really good value.

We've been here a couple of times over recent months, once with a group of four and then back a later date with a party of eight. We enjoyed the food and ambience both times. We particularly appreciated that on both occasions the owner went out of his way to meet the dietary needs of one of our party, who is a coeliac. We'll come back.

We moved to the area about twenty years ago and we came here on the recommendation of a Lebanese/Australian friend who said she liked this place because it was the closest in quality to her mother's cooking that she knew of. Since then we have been coming several times a year and have got to know Michael and his nephew Mark very well.The food is always exceptional, fresh and tasty.Over the years we have worked our way through the whole menu but there are certain dishes that we keep coming back to. The garlic chicken, the Fattoush salad, the spinach pie, the baba ganoush, the stuffed zucchini......Excellent ambience, not too fancy and not too plain and terrific service.

Our last minute booking was accommodated easily so we were a little wary of what the food was going to be like. We were greeted by friendly staff who took our order promptly. We ordered the set menus and the food arrived within minutes. Every course was delicious and the one course was better than the last. There was so much food that we rolled out of the restaurant. Excellent value for money and delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a delicious night out.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal. There are 4 or 5 Lebanese restaurants around this corner. The prophet's service was friendly and efficient. The food we ate was all fresh and extremely tasty. Great Lebanese food finished off with a terrific coffee. Reasonably priced and highly recommended. Simple and unpretentious.
