Was 301kathb at The Blue Steak a mag?
Food was OK, well presented and tasty. My chicken main course was tough, but we only paid £29 for three courses, proseccio and coffee for two. So, for the price it was good value. Pleasant waiting staff, all very young. I don't think I would have liked it as much at full price. View all feedback.

What WhitlocksEnd dislikes about The Blue Steak:
Good value meal with generous portions.Strangely the carrots appeared to be a mix of fresh and either tinned or frozen.Although mains and desserts are ordered together by the time my favourite ‘sticky toffee pudding’ was to be served they had run out. Very disappointing as looking at other diners desserts this was by far the most appealing offering! As has been mentioned before drink prices are a tad high for such a m... View all feedback.

Dogs allowed in the dining room. Basic hotel fare. Nothing special but sundaes for dessert were lovely.

The restaurant lacks sophistication, with plain tables and cocktail napkins that are too small. The staff are young and inexperienced, giving the establishment more of a cafe vibe than a proper restaurant. The first course, Thai Fishcakes, seemed to have been fried from frozen and while edible, were not great. The focus on presentation, such as serving food on bits of wood, seems to take precedence over quality. The menu was basic and many items were unavailable. My steak choice was not available initially but miraculously appeared later, though it was smaller than expected and tasteless. The food was cooked perfectly but lacked flavor, and the steak was served on a cold plate. While the cooking was excellent, the poor quality of the steak was apparent. At £16.50 for a tasteless 6-ounce piece of protein, I did not find it to be good value. The restaurant has potential but would benefit from more experienced staff and a greater emphasis on choice and quality rather than presentation. I would need to see many positive reviews before considering a return visit.

While staying at the Blue Inn, I decided to dine at the restaurant for convenience. The food was decent, but not outstanding. However, the quality seemed to vary for each course, so my experience may have been influenced by the dishes I chose that evening.
