Food was OK, well presented and tasty. My chicken main course was tough, but we only paid £29 for three courses, proseccio and coffee for two. So, for the price it was good value. Pleasant waiting staff, all very young. I don't think I would have liked it as much at full price. View all feedback.
What WhitlocksEnd doesn't like about The Blue Steak:
Good value meal with generous portions.Strangely the carrots appeared to be a mix of fresh and either tinned or frozen.Although mains and desserts are ordered together by the time my favourite ‘sticky toffee pudding’ was to be served they had run out. Very disappointing as looking at other diners desserts this was by far the most appealing offering! As has been mentioned before drink prices are a tad high for such a m... View all feedback.
This was our 4th visit to the blue steak and once again we was not disappinted, this time I booked a groupon voucher for a fillet steak meal and booked a table straight away, steak was excellent and cooked exactly how it was requested, we enjoyed so much I went home and ordered another groupon voucher as they are valid until October!!! Definitely worth a visit
When you choose a starter you expect something simple, no way, everything is very very special. steak is done exactly as you requested. service fit for a king.
Bought a deal over internet, would not have wanted to pay full price! Place looks like a cheap diner, very weird. We could choose a starter from a good selection, my pâté was a bit hard but relish was lovely and tangy and the bread was warm and yummy. We had to have surf and turf, the rump steak was cooked perfectly. The lobster was a challenge, but was fun. The garlic undercooked and not needed and we were encouraged to have a sauce, which was horrid and not needed. Chips were lovely and all in all, it was a good dish. Didn't have a pud, bit boring. Won't go back, much rather go to a pub!
We went to the blue steak on a groupon voucher for a steak and lobster meal..The starter was ok but the main course started badly with cold plates..the steak was cold and the lobster watery...the steaks were taken away and replaced with more luke warm and tough steaks!! the peppercorn sauce which was £3 was cold!! and tasted of cold cream...it was replaced and came back hot but having had a load of peppercorns thrown in it. still only tasted of cream. The cook needs to go on a cookery course!!The waitresses were good and tried their best in a bad situation.
We went tonight, ok we had a groupon for four adults but we still had paid £42 for that groupon. We got there and ordered our drinks, we wanted white wine but were told they ran out due to a large party from Cruffs on Friday night drinking it all, along with other items on the menu. We then went on to order our food, well what they had not run out of!! We were then told that that the manger had tried to ring us during the day to say that they had run out of lobster. But we never received a phone call, along with other diners who had turned up with a groupon voucher. We were offered anything off the menu except the fillet steak. Everything on the menu was way cheaper than what we were expecting, after complaining we got offered the fillet steak. When the steak arrived it was obvious that 2 of the steaks were not fillet but iron steak which was also in the menu. When we started to eat the steak it tasted funny. At this stage we were just past the point of caring as there were other guests arriving but being told different stories as to why there was no food left (accident on the M42) I felt sorry for the poor young waitresses and young lad who had to deal with all the complaints while the manager was in the kitchen and didn 't have the decency to come and speak to people. Won 't be back again.
