I had a mixed experience at the restaurant. The service was excellent and very professional. However, the food was hit or miss. The shrimp flatbread was undercooked—the crust wasn’t crispy at all, and the toppings were raw. On the positive side, the veggie flatbread was well-prepared, and the chicken sandwich was fantastic. The baked green tomatoes were also a highlight. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Veranda:
The hostess was quite rude and the table server seemed a bit put off and actually forgot about us. I do still recommend this place and I have had other awesome experiences. I hope it was just this Saturday's shift and staff that made my visit today unpleasant. Food was very tasty. View all feedback.
The service here is attentive, and I appreciate that the omelettes are made to order, along with having salads available in the morning. The breakfast options include the usual fare, from fruits to hand-carved meats, in this case, ham. However, at $16.99, I feel that it lacks some basic items like cereal and oatmeal. A portion of the price is for the setting, which is charming and upscale, but it doesn't fully justify the $16.99 cost. A better value would be to order from the menu, where most options range from $9 to $13, which I would recommend.
Let's start with something positive: yesterday, I had the 3 Egg Omelette with toast and hash browns, which I rated a 6 or 7 out of 10. It was pretty average—nothing too remarkable, a bit bland, but visually appealing for $12. Today, I tried the Eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were medium (though I prefer them runny), and the dish looked nice. However, the muffin was greasy and tough, making it almost inedible. The hollandaise sauce tasted like a powdered mix—curdled and lacking the bright lemon flavor I expect from a well-made sauce. In terms of presentation, I'd give it a 9/10, but for the taste, I’d rate it a 5/10. The hash browns were crispy but oily, with an unpleasant aftertaste of old oil—only a 3/10 there. The sausage sides, which were 2-ounce portions, had a bit of spice but lacked the pleasant hint of sage typical of a good breakfast sausage, so I’d rate those a 5/10 too. The total for this meal came to $19.77! I would recommend checking out Bev's instead; you can get a much better meal there for just $8.25. The New and Improved Veranda is definitely a must-visit! 6/30/19.
Breakfast at 8 AM, servIce was perfect and friendly. Lovely views of the river. Menu was interesting and everything we had was well prepared, good temperature and tasty. French toast with crushed frosted flake crust was interesting and tasty.
We had the corner table on a picture perfect day. My sister ordered the roll the dice drink. She ended up with a prohibition vodka lime drink which she enjoyed. The process was a lot of fun! For lunch I had the prime rib sandwich with the softest 'hoagie roll ' ever. The Au jus had a bit more rosemary than I care for but was good still! My sister had the fish 'taco ' sandwich which she really enjoyed. My aunt had the quiche. Initially she was taken aback that the bacon was piled on top, but she thought it was very tasty once she got started. For sides, sis had fries, I had sweet potato fries and aunt had salad. Everyone liked their side. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I 've ever had... Actually tasted like real sweet potatoes! Very yummy!
Well let's start with a positive comment, I had the 3 Egg Omelette yesterday, with toast and has brown, it was a 6/7 on a 10 scale, not bad just an average plate, attractive, bland, and nothing special at 12.00! Today I had the Eggs Benedict, pouched, medium( preferred runny, nice looking presentation, but the muffin was greasy, tough, hardly edible..the hollandaise was a powdered product, curdled, tasteless , no bright lemon flavor, I associate with a classic, made sauce, it is after all what creates a nice dish, presentation 9/10, product 5/10..the Hash browns were crisp, but oily with an aftertaste of old oil??3/10..the sausage sides 2 ounce portions, were spicy, but not a breakfast sausage with a pleasant hint of sage..5/10... 19.77!!!! 2.75 coffee, 2.75 OJ, 4.00 sausage..Grand total, plus 23.00 A better choice, Bev's... 8.25,
