Cafe Pichilingue, no longer exists! However, during its time it was a great place to grab a meal and hang with friends. Tortilila soup was always a great choice! View all feedback.
I've only eaten here for lunch and have never been disappointed. They have a great menu with tons of choices. The food is excellent, very filling and well priced. The staff are always smiling and welcoming. This is THE place to choose if you are looking to eat somewhere downtown Red Deer.
I was tempted to try this cafe after laughing my way through their online menu. They recommended several sandwiches and I settled on a simple grilled cheese and ham, salsa and Italian soda which rang in at about $14.00.The food came out quick and the grilled cheese was tasty. The salsa was excellent - you could tell this was not scooped out of a jar, it was fresh and delicious!Overall I'd come back. The patio is great for nice summer days.
Cafe Pichilingue is in the heart of downtown and has a welcoming feeling. When I entered, the restaurant was quite small, but it has a very rustic feeling to it. A lady walked in with some fresh veggies from the market that morning. We weren't sure what to do since they had no hostess so we approched the counter. You order and pay at the counter then you sit either inside or on the outdoor patio where you can listen to local music on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We were there for lunch on a Wednesday and it was wonderful. I had "The Big Squeeze" which is a chicken quesadilla with apples. The apples I think should have been a little bit more cooked, but it was good anyways. I would recommend eating here and I plan on visiting again. The Velvet Olive is a bar located on top of this restaurant. I've always wondered where it was and so if you want to have a drink upstairs, you're always welcome to.
Passing through on our way to Banff, kids were hungry, pulled off the highway, found downtown and ended up having the BEST meal we had during our entire vacation in Alberta. Service was friendly, outdoor seating was lovely and best of all - The Food! Fresh ingredients, fresh bread, thoughtful combination of flavors, generous portions, awesome value. The kids were pleased and so were the parents. Soup, sandwiches and quesadillas all prepared consistently and well plated. We were impressed and thankful. On this trip through Alberta we found supposedly high rated restaurants serving up totally overpriced, tasteless, poorly prepared, over-thought food. Yeeech!Cafe Pichilingue is a little oasis in an Alberta of awful dining - Don't miss it. Wish we'd had time to attend their live music performances in the back of the house, we noted the line up and a number of well known Alt/Folk singers (such as Chloe Albert) were slated to perform. We feel lucky to have found this place!
Chicken ranch quesadilla thing, omg I love it. The spread that goes on there... so yummy!! Penny is the best!
