Cafe Pichilingue in downtown Red Deer was once a popular spot, known for its tortilla soup and cozy atmosphere. The menu was limited, but the food was good quality at reasonable prices. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making it a great place for lunch or a cocktail. The cafe also featured a patio for sunny days and hosted live music events. Overall, it was a hidden gem in Alberta's dining scene, offering a refreshing alternative to overpriced and tasteless options. Unfortunately, the cafe is no longer in business, but those who visited had positive experiences and fond memories of their time there.

Cafe Pichilingue is in the heart of downtown and has a welcoming feeling. When I entered, the restaurant was quite small, but it has a very rustic feeling to it. A lady walked in with some fresh veggies from the market that morning. We weren't sure what to do since they had no hostess so we approched the counter. You order and pay at the counter then you sit either inside or on the outdoor patio where you can listen to local music on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We were there for lunch on a Wednesday and it was wonderful. I had "The Big Squeeze" which is a chicken quesadilla with apples. The apples I think should have been a little bit more cooked, but it was good anyways. I would recommend eating here and I plan on visiting again. The Velvet Olive is a bar located on top of this restaurant. I've always wondered where it was and so if you want to have a drink upstairs, you're always welcome to.

Cafe Pichilingue, no longer exists! However, during its time it was a great place to grab a meal and hang with friends. Tortilila soup was always a great choice!
