Make sure to break your piggy bank and bring every penny that is saved. The food was good but overpriced. They charge for the bread, so if you don’t want some make sure to tell them. We've been going to La Hilaria for a dozen years now. It's a must stop on a day trip to the Sierra de Guadarrama, just north of Madrid, and especially for when we have people from out of town. We go early to La Granja de San Ildefonso (worth a visit) and then lunch a La Hilaria. Try to reserve at the Terraza.
