Ate here with three mates at the start of the week and we went for the amazing value lunch menu, three courses cost £32 with canapés, bread, amuse bouche
We came here midweek and had the champagne lunch - 3 courses, appetizer and pre-dessert and a glass of champagne for £35 each.
I've been here several times over the years for special occasions; in a group for a friend's 30th, my 21st birthday and my grandmother's 80th among others.
The 3 course lunch menu was superb with little snacks in between to heighten the experience. Staff were extremely friendly/ attentive and this was a really enjoyable and great experience. It is such a shame that L’Ortolan is closing at the end of August we are considering a return visit as well worth visiting before then
Every time I go to l'Ortolan, I wonder if it will be as good as the previous times and it always is! The food is absolutely delectable, the wine list incredible, teh ambience perfect, the Sommelier knowledgeable and helpful and the staff courteous and attentive without being intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble. We particularly loved the heritage tomato and halibut courses in the tasting menu. I am so sorry that this jewel of the Berkshire countryside is closing after all this time.
