This restaurant was fantastic. I tried a delicious local craft beer, and the pizza was amazing. I highly recommend this place. We went at 3 o'clock and by the time we left at 4, it was packed. They open at 3 during the week, so I suggest arriving early if you don't want to wait. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Independent Ale House:
Worst initial service I ever experienced. Sign said “seat yourself”. There was only one empty table and it was dirty. We sat at the dirty table waiting for the waitress to clean it. She rudely told us to stand up. She took the dishes and disappeared. We waited several minutes. This was the best pizza my husband and I have ever had and we love our pizza. Our kids also devoured it! The crust was amazing and the variety of toppings. The salad and cheese bread were so good too. If only we would have had room for dessert. Our server was amazing and my husband loved his IPA and I had the best craft root beer. We will be stopping here for sure nexttime we are in the Black Hills!

We were visiting Rapid City and walking downtown. Stopped in for a beer due to reading about them having 50 beers on tap. The bartender was friendly and let us sample a couple before we selected two local IPAs. Both were good. Great variety of beers to choose from. We didn't eat but plan on returning to try a pizza. We loved our pizzas and draft beers. Veggie pizza was beyond good. I even had the left over the day after and it tasted still great. We had tasted three beers and ended up with Zymurcracy and Avery.
