I have ordered takeout from this restaurant a few times and have had mixed experiences. The duck and sweet and sour pork were both very good, and the poo poo platter offered great value. However, the Schezwan beef and lemon chicken from my last order were underwhelming. The lemon chicken was a whole breast that was barely breaded and flavorless. I would not recommend it to anyone. I wish they would reopen for dine-in... View all feedback.
What SD Girl doesn't like about Golden Phoenix:
SEE UPDATED REVIEW AFTER THIS ORIGINAL ONE. Quick friendly service and consistently delicious food that never disappoints. Hit this place at least once a week. UPDATE: Since new ownership took over about a year ago, this place has taken a huge nosedive into the gutter. NO personalities, NO friendly smiles, NO decent food. We stopped eating there after we gave them more than enough chances to shape up. Que sera sera. View all feedback.
I was pleasantly surprised by golden phoenix. they surpassed my expectations first this is not a Chinese takeout restaurant. that's it.
A solid choice among all bar food (burger, huh, wraps, salat, etc. in rapid city. golden phoenix took our togo order, repeated it back.
After ordering and a waiting period of 45 min to pick up, I waited in restaurant for 30 min without eating. the host comes with a sledge and front.
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant that I have ever been to. I have tried many others, but this one stands out. Don't listen to the negative reviews from people like Karen. I come here regularly and have never had a bad experience. The food is always hot and delicious, with generous portions. The staff is friendly. It's a good sign that there is usually a line to pick up food, as dining in is currently closed. Everyone can't wait to get their fix of Golden Phoenix. Personally, I could eat their General Tso's chicken fried rice every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.

I wish they would reopen for dine-in service, as even liberal states are beginning to return to normal. Despite this, the restaurant remains busy, which I take as a sign that it is preferred over its competitors.
