It's a good and big pub. Dog friendly. Good cold spilled Guinness and many other beers from all over Australia and over sea. Food is OK. Ceasar salad was on average but the lamb pie was good. I think it's one of the best pub around together with coach and horses. I don't know if the DOG does happy hour cheaper beer, though. View all feedback.
What Marion Connelly doesn't like about Dukes Bistro:
On holiday in Sydney for a week staying with a friend in Randwick. Had dinner at Dukes Bistro tonight, one meal was good but the other disappointing. Chicken Parma was all good and an enjoyable meal. However the chicken burger which was a special for a Wednesday night at only $9.99 was very disappointing, it is usually $17. The chips were good however the chicken was such a thin slice of chicken with hardly any spice... View all feedback.
A lot of meat on this menu! The steaks are ok without being great, the other dishes pretty ordinary. Terribly limited wine list. And not super cheap pub food, yet quality about that. Service try's hard but just misses. pretty boring menu really.

The chips were good however the chicken was such a thin slice of chicken with hardly any spices on. The avocado was just a smear on each side of the roll - I expected a couple of slices at least!! Such a shame as it was a nice pub and the beer was great. If you are going to put a $17 meal on special at least give them a decent meal!!
We live around the corner, so we were looking forward to seeing the refurbished bistro. We went for a Friday dinner double date and won't be back.Frankly, the owners are trying to pitch to a high end market, probably chasing the prices the Pav can command. It offers table service now - and a pricey wine list. Because of the table service, you have to wait 5 minutes for a beer. The food takes a very long time to prepare (2 hours for the set menu) and the wait was exacerbated by the play pen (table) the families next to us had created. Children are totally allowed to run amok here - under tables and chairs and then over bar stools. Staff are not empowered to take action in these circumstances and the parents had no shame about this behaviour. If you like this or have undisciplined children of your own, this could be an enjoyable evening for you. At nearly $400 for dinner, we would never come back.
Nicely refurbished restaurant on the 1st floor of the Dog Pub. Pub very popular with the Bistro a little more upmarket food offering with a French favour. The entrees to share were very tasty, the pawns were huge but a bit expensive at $6.50 each, the calamari with chilli was tender
I had the chilli nachos which were delicious. The white wine was good and reasonably priced. The service was quick and the surroundings very pleasant
