Menu

Here you will find the menu of Taylors in Bury. At the moment, there are 2 menus and drinks on the list.

The restaurant, under new ownership from Wigan, has received mixed reviews. While the fish dishes were disappointing with hard, overcooked batter, some appreciated the quality supplier. Others found the fish and chips inedible, with burnt, unappetizing appearance. Complaints also included small portion sizes and lack of fresh, ready-to-serve food. Former loyal customers miss the traditional taste from beef dripping. However, some visitors found the Yorkshire fish cakes enjoyable despite needing more cooking time. Despite these contrasting experiences, the restaurant can still evoke sentimental memories for some, making it a potential spot for a nostalgic visit.

I used to visit this place with my late father who passed on in August 2021. Always an excellent lunch, sat in the rear restaurant area. Dad loved it. Lovely staff, too. A great place to visit on Sunday.

I recently visited this restaurant after several months and discovered that it has a new owner from Wigan. The young man was very pleasant and talkative, and I hope he does well in his new venture. I ordered two fish dishes and noticed that there was only one other customer in the restaurant who was leaving. I inquired about the fish supplier and was pleased to hear that it was still the same one known for providing great quality fish with perfectly cooked batter. However, I was disappointed when the fish I received had hard and overcooked batter, with dry fish inside. I believe that a lighter batter and shorter cooking time would greatly improve the dish. I hope the owner takes this feedback on board as he has great potential to succeed. Although I was let down this time, I may consider returning in the future to give it another chance.
