We visited Cabo Girao, Europe's highest sea cliff and it was stunning to look out across maderia and the Atlantic ocean. All we needed was a great cafe. Well this is it. Stunning to look out across the cliffs with fantastic proper coffee and homemade cakes. We had the lemon tart and chocolate brownie. The cakes were brilliant. Highly recommend it. Lovely cafe. What User doesn't like about Cabo Girao Cafe:
We stopped by on our way from the viewpoint for a quick refresher. We (mistakenly it seems) picked some ice creams from the display unit, at which both staff came and without a word, started pulling boxes out of it to stack on the top. This continued. leaving us standing there.. being deliberately ignored.. until puzzled we asked what was the problem. The lady just gestured for payment.. then when offered.. snatched... This relatively new, modern, clean café is by the entrance to the viewing area of Cabo Girao cliffs. The food looked good but we only had coffees good and strong and a snack (expensive as this is a very popular and captive tourist site...with no competition) Pay toilets available past the adjoining tacky souvenir shops. The tables are under an open awning and smoking is allowed which is unpleasant for us if smokers settle at an adjoining table. Staff were pleasant and spoke good English.
A good place and on a clear day, that is good. we had only coffee, but eating and eating was very nice.
Visited the viewing platform and had a coffee and cake in the caffe. beautiful outdoor sitting area and good coffee and cake. the viewing platform is definitely worth a visit, although if you don't want the heights to avoid the glass floor where you can see below...on the sea a few hundred meters below!
We were close and had dinner three times. the menu is limited, but the fresh quiche is fabulous and the lookout is breathtaking. the price was also very reasonable due to the location. great looking cake and sandwiches too. the hearty food is served with a simple but beautiful fresh on the part of the salad. highly recommended
We enjoyed the break after a wonderfull view at glassbottom! Verry good sangria and cake for low budget when you don`t forget at which special location this cafe is placed!
