Nestled in the heart of Quincy, Malachy's is a unique establishment that combines a lively bar atmosphere with the charm of an Irish tavern. While patrons can't expect traditional dining options, the friendly bartenders are often quick with a smile, despite occasionally being distracted by the television. Guests are encouraged to bring in food from nearby restaurants, fostering a casual vibe. With its well-loved jukebox, dartboards, and pool table, the bar invites enjoyable conversations among a diverse clientele. Whether enjoying a pint of Guinness or participating in the lively Wednesday Irish jam sessions, Malachy's remains a cherished gathering spot.

Have you ever visited a place that turned out to be completely different from what you expected, yet in hindsight you realize you should have seen it coming? That’s how I felt about Malachys. From the outside, it appeared to be a charming Irish tavern offering traditional Irish-American comfort food. However, that was not the case. There was no waitress service, and although the bartender was friendly, he definitely seemed annoyed with us when we interrupted his TV time to ask for a beer. He informed us that if we wanted to eat, we could grab something from the Thai restaurant next door and bring it back to enjoy at the bar. The older clientele gave the impression that they were merely waiting to start hanging up the various commemorative cards on the wall. My family's restaurant has been closed for over a decade, but I couldn't help but feel that Malachys had an eerily similar vibe as if it had never truly closed its doors.
It's a shame they no longer have the pool table, as it was one of my favorite spots.
This place has a classic pub vibe with live music and a lottery. There’s a lively atmosphere during the playoffs! Service rating: 3/5.
I had an unpleasant experience with a bartender who was not welcoming at all. Her attitude made me feel as though I had stepped into a bar from the 1950s, reminiscent of the Jim Crow era.
