This place has the best sashimi in town. We always enjoy our food at Tokyo, and the relatively new owners are doing a wonderful job. I went here because Ame su is closed. Im thankful because im hungry but at the same time I have no choice. So I ordered prawn tempura, gyoza and pork don buri. Prawn tempura is cooked right. Its crunchy but the sauce is bland. Gyoza is good when paired with the gyoza sauce. But the sauce that they gave is just spicy. It didnt complement the gyoza and lastly, the pork don buri. This restaurant is now called mini Japan Japanese Restaurant . Downtown Quesnel is in chaos with major road construction so it was a challenge to get to the door, but it was worth the trouble. The spicy sashimi was delicious, as was the chicken and vegetable teriyaki. Portions were generous. They appear to be doing a booming take-out business as well.
The new owners of Mini Japan in Quesnel are definitely making a name for themselves. Located conveniently on Hwy 97, it's a perfect spot to stop for a quick lunch or dinner while traveling north or south. For locals, it's a lucky find as you can enjoy the impressive menu as often as you'd like. Jun treated us to some off-menu items that were delicious. The service was great and Jun and his family are incredibly kind. I will definitely be returning.
