What Mona Halilaj dislikes about Ukus:
I have been dining at this restaurant since I was very young, and now that I am almost 30, it remains my go-to spot for delicious Albanian cuisine in Queens, NYC. The spinach pite (burek) is my all-time favorite dish here, but the qebapa and pasul are also consistently excellent. The service is exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff. Service is so bad. only brad and cevabi, no salate or any side. also cevabi is not delicious. only salt, meat and gas odour on the cevabi
Eating was in order (decent burek, slightly underwhelming cevapi.) that would have been good for 4 stars. the environment was somewhat unwilling. we were greeted by a silent, indifferent view for about 6 seconds. Maybe they were recently busy, tired, or it was a cultural thing, but the star, while we asked if they were still open, was strange. then we asked for water for him to drink; we were brought to bottle water without explanation. we assumed that if they tell us not only a bottle and a price, it was complementary (that was our experience a few times.) it was not complementary as we found out when we pay the bill. to clarify, we were not disregarded or treated rudely; we only felt as if we were a little inconvenient for the employees to show up. Of course, we were not happy to be charged water that we were not informed, had a price, and only when we were paying we learned that it was only cashless (which we had fortunately this time) if they had cash and simply want a meal without interruptions or interaction with the staff, this is honestly a perfect choice. only not our favorite environment.

Best Balkan food in NYC and the staff is really nice and kind. Never disappoints. Also in love with their kajmak
Great experience, food was great and fresh made. 5 star service, and place was clean. Will stop by again when in area.

The burek at this restaurant is amazing! I loved the spinach and feta fillings. It was made to order and delicious.
"The burek was delicious, the yogurt and sweets were also very good. However, the pasul or beans plate was disappointing as it barely had any beans. I feel that the $18 price for a plate with minimal beans is overpriced. I recommend adding more beans to the pot when boiling them. I suggest making a goulash to add to the beans instead of dry meat. Fresh meat goulash would complement the beans plate perfectly."

Very authentic Balkan food. I’ve been coming here as a kid and it’s never dipped in quality! The drink selection is awesome Meal type: Dinner Food: 5
I've enjoyed Ukus for over 15 years, but feel like the meal we enjoyed from there yesterday was a new peak food experience. Now that tomatoes and cucumbers are getting really good, their salad, Ukus Salata, is genuinely my favorite in Astoria, with delicious Bulagarian feta and a sensational vinaigrette dressing. They threw in a free bread, which reminded me how spectacular their pita-like bread is. The meat-lover really loved their juicy, flavorful chicken skewers and the meat burek. I will say that their spinach and cheese burek is one of the greatest dishes in New York. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
