Reviews summary
Jora, a modern Peruvian restaurant located in Long Island City, offers amazing authentic Peruvian food and drinks, according to a Peruvian native. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the dining experience enjoyable. The restaurant has a small off-street parking lot, which is a plus in a neighborhood where parking can be challenging. One guest had a negative experience with gluten contamination, but others had positive experiences with the food and service. The dishes, such as seco de Cordero and aji de gallina, were delicious. The atmosphere is welcoming and the decor is handsome, though the noise level can be a bit high. Overall, Jora is highly recommended for those looking to try unique and flavorful Peruvian cuisine in a pleasant setting.

This place has a beautiful space, and although it is romantic and somewhat formal, it was also somehow low-key and unintimidating. The menu includes a lot of beef, but we tried the lamb shank (enormous! , octopus (delicious! , and squash stew with shrimp (something like exotic comfort food . The cocktails were fabulous, especially ones based on pisco, and when we asked for some kind of hot cocktail for a friend with... View all feedback.
What Troy Turcotte dislikes about Jora:
I have celiac and asked that everything be strictly gluten free. Something must not have been prepared correctly because I got very ill and short while after eating my dinner. View all feedback.

The paella was so delicious, along with the ceviche as the app. The charred broccolini was also phenomenal. The only dish I would advise against getting is the grilled octopus. It was so salty that I was taken aback. I normally love my dishes with a dash more of salt, but this had me reaching for the water almost instantaneously. The drink menu is great with wine, cocktails, and beers. The atmosphere is lovely with the most wondrous decorations. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Very flavorful food, very nice dishes. Pricier than expected but the food quality makes up for it. I had the ceviche grilled octopus. Both were cooked to perfection Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
To preface: I am vegetarian. The ambiance was beautiful and the staff were incredibly polite. We came in a bit before the kitchen closed and they still accommodated us. I ordered the only labeled vegetarian entree and to be frank it wasn’t the best. It was just French fries, onions, mushrooms and 2 cherry tomatoes basted in a balsamic-y sauce. I opted for no rice which probably was a mistake, but either way I didn’t think that dish warranted a $20-24 price tag. My brother ordered a meat dish which he throughly enjoyed so I would definitely come back if I could eat meat or for the drinks. Excellent place, second time I visited and the food was again excellent! Ambience is really nice as well. Ordered the seco de Cordero and aji de gallina. Both delicious! I don't live in NY, otherwise I would definitively be a recurrent customer.
Th waiter was very knowledgeable about the entire menu, and gave us detailed information on the selections we were making. The food was excellent from the salad and seafood soup we had as appetizers, to the entrees we ordered. Menu was not flexible, but all came out very good. Prices were pretty moderate. Would definitely do it again.
The food was excellent...I recommend the octopus app and the braised lamb shank as well as the mussels. Service was excellent and the vibe was pleasant.
This is a nice modern Peruvian restaurant in Long Island City. While I found the loud children a bit much when we entered, for an 8:30 reservation, they soon left with their parents, making the whole experience a lot more pleasant. The food is wonderful, and creative, for what it is. The portions are a bit on the large size, but most people prefer that. The price point is exactly where it should be for the quality and quantity of what you get.

I had an outstanding dining experience with excellent food and service. The servers were attentive and friendly throughout the evening. I'm always on the hunt for the best 'tres leches' cake, and I'm thrilled to have found it here. It had the perfect sponge consistency, just the right balance of milk and cream, and the addition of a delightful shrimp with lime made for a fantastic finish!
I visited one of the best Peruvian restaurants recently. While it was a bit pricey, especially given the portion sizes, the food was simply outstanding! I ordered ceviche—though I forgot to take a picture of it—but it was absolutely delicious. I did wish they had chips to accompany it, but unfortunately, they were out on the day I visited. The steak I had was fantastic as well, and overall, my family and I had a wonderful experience there. The dessert was tasty too, although the brownie was a bit more on the dark side and not as thick as typical brownies. The service was excellent, and they were very attentive to COVID safety measures, keeping guests spaced apart with Plexiglass and ensuring everyone wore masks. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family, giving it a solid 10/10. I just wish the portions were larger, especially considering the prices.
I've been here countless times. I always love it here. It is 100% Peruvian with a modern twist on it, and it is worth back at any time. From delicious food to wonderful staff, Jora is the #1 restaurant in the neighborhood. 10/10.
Wow, the empanadas are freshly made! Do I really need to say more? The octopus was incredibly fresh as well, and you have to order the yucca with the spicy sauce. A+ for customer experience and taste!
