Although it was busy, and we didn't have a booking, a table for 2 was quickly found by the staff. The menu is traditional Quebecoise, but offering something for those with different palates, and all reasonably priced. View all feedback.
What Deangelo Hermiston doesn't like about La Cuisine:
the food is excellent but cibole we were 4 people and there were about 20 customers in the restaurant and waitress (with piercing in the nose) instead of coming to serve water and asking us if everything was okay. well she was sitting at the bar drinking a beer and reading the newspaper. we would have had a second bottle of wines but since the service was terrific we did not have the chance to ask for a second bottle... This place is a lot of fun! Great ambience. We sat outside with kids but would love to go back for drinks another time. Our waitress was super helpful talking us through the Quebec food on the menu. No kids menu but the grilled cheese was my kids favorite meal of the trip.
Trendy, quirky restaurant great for beer, a casual meal and funky atmosphere. Rotating menu of about 6 choices that are all the same price $16). Good beer choices and the nachos are a great starter. Friendly service, great vibe
On a recent vacation trip to Quebec City we decided to make a visit to La Cuisine and I am so glad we did. We had a delightful experience from start to finish. The place is small and quirky but cozy. The owner and her son cook and serve the wonderful food themselves and spend time visiting with everyone in the place. The decor is a mixture of kitchen items and furniture from across several decades, 40's to 70's. Chairs, tables, dishes, cutlery, lamps are all mismatching but somehow all works together to make a homey, welcoming atmosphere in which to enjoy the delicious menu items. I had cabbage soup along with cabbage rolls and sweet potato puree. Every bite was excellent. My husband had vegetable lasagna which he finished right down to the last bite, an event that doesn't happen often. For dessert we shared a generous dish of Chomeur Pudding.....probably the best I've ever tasted. I was using a walker that evening and although there IS a step up to enter it was quite easy to negotiate, even without the offered assistance should I need it. I can't wait to return to La Cuisine.
This restaurant was perfect. So many great tastes! The chefs work right in front of you. Wonderful French cuisine. I look forward to returning.
Prices are really reasonable, and just enough choices for everyone. Menu is on the chalkboard (either because it changes a lot, or covid--not sure). I had a stuffed cabbage roll that came with mashed sweet potatoes, which I never would have thought to put together, but, yum. Cider on tap was great, too. Friendly, bilingual staff!
