The creperie near the breakneck stairs offers a lovely terrace and charming interior decor. While some reviews noted mediocre coffee and slow service, others praised the plentiful and flavorful food, especially the cassolettes and poutine crepe. The staff received mixed reviews, with some experiencing less-than-friendly encounters. Prices are on the higher side due to the prime location. Overall, L'Escale is a popular dining spot in Quebec City's tourist area, providing delicious meals, great views, and an opportunity for people-watching. A recommended stop for visitors to the city craving a fulfilling meal in a picturesque setting.

Was Anonym at E l'escale a mag?
We ate our first breakfast in Quebec here and enjoyed tasty strawberry and nutella crepes with cream. The coffee was nice and we enjoyed sitting outside to eat, what a view of the shops! View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about E l'escale:
C eSt la terrasse sur les escaliers donnant sur le petit Champlain qui nous a séduit. Une vue très sympathique ! La cuisine est simple mais le personnel est agréable. Les prix sont touristiques comme tous dans ce quartier. View all feedback.

The service was not great, according to the waiter who mentioned they did not have a larger spoon for my wife's soup – using a teaspoon for soup? We ordered two soups and a dessert to share, but they all arrived at the same time. We were bothered by several flying insects and felt that the restaurant needed better cleanliness, which we mentioned to the waiter. The coffee was the worst we've had in Canada.

Highly recommended! The staff is very polite and friendly, and the food is excellent. I particularly enjoyed the poutine crepe, which was both delicious and filling. The desserts were also very sweet and satisfying.

When we mentioned that the burger was burnt, we decided to try the chicken burger instead. However, it was too greasy and was cooked in less than a minute. The staff did not apologize, and we left feeling disappointed and $17 CAD lighter. As my teenager put it, even if every other option is closed, it's not worth stopping here.

I had a cripple called sugar-hack that cost 17$ inappropriate price. taste was terrible, frozen fruits inside. I hate this crow. only location is good at this caffe. nothing else.

Considering this was in the tourist area on the steps to the Petit-Champlain quarter, the food was very good. I had the crab cake with a small salad and it was delicious! Great atmosphere.
