This is a French experimental tapas bar. No, where do I see it as such? the menu turns on basic seasonal ingredients. I was impressed by everything I ate. the oysters were sweet, creamy and not fishy at all. the jamon de canard tasted like real jamon, but dee flavored. the lion shell was experimental and certainly a success. such a large selection of textures and aromas. Asian inspired cold oil, XO sauce, roasted rice and beautifully cooked mushrooms. the mandelkuchen with nougat, candied fennel, amaretto ice cream, fried crumbs was really interesting and tasty as well. Moreover, the prizes for the culinary adventure they get!
This was our favorite restaurant during our trip to CanadaService was just excellent.
On my first trip to quebec city in many years I had planned to make sure that many of its stacks to eat: crepp, poutin, meatcake, etc., but ultimately.
That place was a hidden gem. It's a small establishment tucked away on the side of a building, easy to overlook. The interior is simple and has a cozy atmosphere. The staff is friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and very detailed in their explanations. While waiting at the bar, we enjoyed watching the magic happen in the kitchen. The menu offers high-quality food, such as affordably priced oysters and a variety of excellent dishes. The Duck ham (Cartd Marmelade) was delicious, especially when paired with the mustard. My wife raved about the guinea fowl pate (parfait), claiming it was the best she'd ever tasted, especially when spread on toast. I can't recall the French name, but there was a fantastic dish with mini-croquettes, caviar, fennel, and crab bisque that was simply divine. The potato dish was surprisingly one of the best I've ever had. While the spinach pasta with almonds/hazelnuts wasn't a favorite, it was still tasty and a unique dish. Each bite was filled with nuts, making it a nut-heavy plate, but I would still go for seconds if I could. We were blown away by our first meal at Buvette in Quebec City and can't wait to go back!
We had an amazing dining experience while in Quebec and this restaurant might have been my favorite. Dave was an outstanding host and the service was excellent. The food was delicious, so much so that we had to order seconds because the whole family loved it. It was a nice touch that they provided spoons for the shells when we finished our mussels. The dessert was also incredible, so make sure not to skip it!
