What Vincenzo Dicki doesn't like about Takumi Cafe & Japanese Cuisine:
This is one of the cheapest sushi restaurants in Pyrmont area. The daily special donburi is $7.90 and they have good bento box set. Good for simple casual Japanese good.

The food was decent with a reasonable serving size relative to the costs. Fresh products with shop near fish markets. Decent atmosphere with cute decor and great customer service. Grief Grief Had the grilled Scallop Nigri, Unagi Don and Chili Yaki noodles with shrimps (spicy for a Japanese joint). It was beautifully cooked and tasted as well. Grief Grief Child friendly too! Good as a second or third date. The location is the only downfall.

A local gem! Always fresh and service is friendly.Chef is great, and very accommodating to food allergies.
Some key distinguishing features of a GOOD Japanese restaurant is that it is operated by actual Japanese, the dishes are able to replicate the native taste of Japan and the offering is similar to the native cuisine in Japan itself. Takumi has all of this in spades with the revamped decor and offerings evoking fond memories of the side streets of Nara and Kyoto where a hungry tourist could go for a delicious meal after a long day hiking. What sets it apart from the other great Japanese restaurants in Sydney is the flavour and delectable taste that immediately transported me back to the Kyoto I left behind years ago. Truly the Umami is strong with this one!
