Rk Cafe - PULA

We were just passing through Pula as we drove around Sardinia, yet we arrived in Pula during siesta time and very little was open. Thank goodness RK Cafe was open with friendly, genuinely warm waiting staff who welcomed us on a hot summer day. We sat outside and immediately we received water to deal with the heat, then although the staff speak little English, they tried really hard to communicate and answer our queries we were very grateful for their effort. They did a great job. Our meals of Beef Steak (see pic), Horse Steak (see pic) and Grilled Vegetables (see pic) were very tasty and some of the best beef I 've ever eaten. Cooked exactly as we requested. The horse steak was something to try and my dining partner tells me it tastes just like beef . It was also enjoyed juicy and tender. Grilled vegetables were amazing, covered in locally made olive oil and everything tasting like it was picked fresh just moments ago from their vegetable garden. Coffee was a perfect ending to a superb meal.

We were driving through when we saw this fantastic place with outdoor seating under umbrellas that provide good coverage from the heat of the summer sun. The place looked great and we were equally impressed with their food quality too. The waitress was very attentive, checking to make sure we had drinks or anything else that we needed. She was able to communicate in English quite well and was always smiling. We ate beef steak (see pic which was huuuuge! The quality of the meat was outstanding and the portion size most satisfying for a hungry customer. Also ordered the horse steak (see pic which is common in Italy and my dining partner was interested in giving it a try just so you know, not gamey at all, it was described as tasting just like beef. The feedback on the horse steak was that it was equally tender and very tasty. Our side dish was grilled vegetables (see pic which is highly recommended throughout Italy as they have the most amazing soil quality and grow plenty of their own vegetables. We had grilled vegetables often with our meals throughout 10 days in Sardinia but honestly we compared every one in other restaurants to this dish as it was easily the best. The olive oil is the highest quality and you can taste that, the vegetables are so fresh it's like they picked them that morning (they probably did! . You just can't get that amazing taste of food any other way. The outdoor seating is fabulous with generous sun umbrellas keeping out direct heat or cosy tables for two under cover near their entrance. It's equally a great spot for a nice cocktail, beer or wine with parking right outside the cafe. Don't drive by this place, you'll miss out on a worthy meal.

New name , new staff members, new owner. The location is now a Disco pub, and it is called : Jungle! Best burgers in pula and some good cocktails!! Ask for waiter danielino he is the best and bilingual!!
