Was Dawn Hershey at Pastiche a mag?
My brother brought the fruit tart as a dessert to my house on Saturday and all of us could not believe not only the presentation, but the high-quality of the ingredients, the exceptional crust and the outstanding fruit…. We cannot wait to try more from this lovely bakery! View all feedback.

My trip to RI was completed with this fruit tart. The best fruit tart I’ve ever had.
They are very confident in their product and the taste did not disappoint. When we asked for recommendations, they replied that whatever we thought sounded good is what we should get, and thats not a response I've ever received anywhere else. Usually im steared towards the surfire hits. Therefore they appear to strive for a baseline quality with all their offerings. We got the chocolate moose and key lime pie and I really loved the taste of both. Based on the small space and high traffic (of which it deserves) it is best to order to go and not eat it on location.
Went today on 6/31/24 I purchased a small vanilla bean cheesecake. Was supposed to have a raspberry topping puree got home there was a small plastic container. With about 1 cut up strawberry tossed on top. I tasted a little bit of the cheesecake. It was plain cheesecake not vanilla bean. So I called and said did they Forget to put an icing of vanilla bean on the top? because this is plain cheesecake with one cut up strawberry in a container that you tossed in the box. Girl on the phone says I 'm sorry about that. Sorry it wasn 't up to your expectations. $10 in the garbage.. she didn 't even offer for me to return and replace it.
What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said. Everything they have is amazing. The go-to for my wife and I have always been the chocolate torte but their chocolate mousse and key lime pie (when its in stock) are also great. Everything's consistent and its location is nice and tucked away behind the craziness of Atwells Ave. A bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for.

Just started going there incredible and the staff is very friendly and helpful !!! When are you going to get your food truck !!!!!!
The scones alone were perfection, but I just finished up my slice of banana cream tart and died. Pastiche makes eating dessert a religious experience
The desserts are outstanding ! It’s one of those places I find myself dreaming about for days after eating any of the desserts from Pastiche. Coffee and service are five star too!
What an adorably quaint place! It was meticulously clean and the staff was attentive and friendly! The desserts are delicious...but I must bring attention to the Angel Food coconut cake! It was light and superbly delicious! We'll definitely be back. Kudos Pastiche for a job very well done!
The staff here is incredible, and the lemon mousse cake is out of this world. I introduced two friends to this hidden gem, and they’re now completely won over. They couldn't stop raving about the desserts and the lovely atmosphere. I've been a loyal patron for at least 15 years, and I absolutely love this place!

Shut-out on Pastiche due to Holiday closures during two prior visits to Providence it was finally on Saturday that a group of eight gathered, one item each plus Coffee and Tea tallying though the results attest to an eatery that has earned its accolades.Originally founded as a wholesale concept, the idea to improve other Restaurants in the area eventually yielding the current Café at Spruce Street, guests entering the space will quickly notice cozy environs created by tight seating and a European-air that sees many guests lingering over last bites and quiet conversation. Not a place for the hurried, a queue commonly found both early and late on every day but Mondays (and Holidays) when closed, it is from seats that those dining-in are asked to order, auto-grat for large parties only appropriate as an hour-long stays undoubtedly cut into the bottom-line even though take-out business remains brisk.Still owned by Eileen Collins and Brandt Heckert for over thirty-five years, competition most certainly having grown stronger though Pastiche remains the city’s most highly-regarded Bakery, it was not long after ordering that Beverages arrived, the Coffee a medium local roast with developed Caramel notes that paired well to first bites of a warmed Slice of Pecan Pie without any cloying “Jam” but instead heavily caramelized Nuts and thin but buttery Crust.Producing some three-dozen choices on Federal Hill each day, such volume creating many difficult choices for those who cannot visit frequently, it was after just one bite of a Scone which eats more like a Muffin that attention turned to Coconut Cake, the crumb moist but airy between layers of Buttercream Frosting riddled with freshly-cut Pulp rather than the store-bought shredded stuff. Not waiting any longer to sample the famous Fruit Tart, per slice for Vanilla Custard, Kiwi, Peaches and Berries a bit steep though the Fruits are impeccable for the Northeast during Winter, those looking for a better bargain should instead consider a wedge of Carrots, Raisins and Cream Cheese made bold by plenty of Cinnamon and Cloves or high-rise Banana Cream Pie that is second to none except perhaps Emeril Lagasse’s.Saving richest for last, though tablemates were already proclaiming one of Pastiche’s daily specials as the best item ordered, it was immediately upon inserting fork that one could tell this was no ordinary “Crumb Cake,” thin ribbons of Butterscotch creating substantial heterogeneity and balanced sweetness only improved by Whipped Cream while the Cream Cheese Brownie was also good but definitely best shared considering its heft.
What an adorable, cozy spot to enjoy some fine desserts. Pastiche features a wonderful selection of sweets as well as coffee and tea. It can get very busy and a bit crowded but I think that's just a reflection of how delicious the desserts are. The service was very good as well. This is a perfect place to extend a dinner date if you've just enjoyed a nice Italian meal on Federal Hill, or an evening at Water Fire. I will definitely be returning the next time I am in Providence. A lover of desserts, I find myself wishing every city had a Pastiche!
Best fruit tart!. They have the best fruit tart in the New England area! It's seaonal tho - a few times I went there in the winter time they didn't have it.
I struggle with Pastiche. Their desserts are good. The coffee is good. The venue is insanely crowded and often bursting with clients who can't be bothered to mutter an "excuse me" as they elbow their way to the cashier. If you somehow manage to grab a seat, you're lucky...but be prepared to feel cramped and inadvertently ignored by the overworked (maybe understaffed?) servers. It's really not their fault though. If they were able to pick themselves up and relocate to a place with more space, they'd be worth 4 stars. goodeatsmundial.com
