I stayed at a hotel nearby, and this restaurant came highly recommended by a friend from Providence. It certainly lived up to the praise! From the moment I walked in, I was warmly welcomed. I love the rustic decor and the overall vibe of the place. Louis, who was behind the bar, was fantastic! I also had the pleasure of meeting his mother, Ruth, who is one of the owners. My first visit to this historic pub surpassed my expectations. The food was incredibly tasty, and the service was top-notch. Our server, Hunter, was attentive and really made us feel at home. We ordered the Murphy's Reuben and the Portobello Reuben, both of which came with a lovely potato salad, flavorful pickle slices, and an excellent Russian dressing. To complement our meal, we enjoyed local brews: Whaler's Rise and Narragansett Lager, both from right here in Rhode Island. We can't wait to come back for more delicious food at this charming pub that dates back to 1929.
We had an amazing experience at this restaurant! I truly think that the Smokehouse burger is the best burger I've ever had. Weighing in at half a pound, it’s cooked to perfection, medium rare, and topped with bacon, onions, and coleslaw—all served on wonderfully toasted Texas toast. It was absolutely fantastic! Additionally, they offer a great selection of draft beers!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, sitting at the end of the bar with Ruth, who made us feel right at home. We stopped by during a friend's bachelor party, and Ruth generously shared her tips on where to go and what to avoid. She reminded us to stay hydrated and suggested we grab some food since we had started our day early. Her warmth and kindness reminded me of my late grandmother, who was also named Ruth. I would highly recommend this place! Twiggy was also amazing, providing friendly, old-school service and promptly taking care of our orders. I ended up giving him a 100% tip for his exceptional service while managing me and my friends.

Spent the weekend at 'The Dean '...Murphy 's was the best part about the stay (the dean, was less than pleasant). We had Saturday PM dinner, food was amazing (wings potato skins best I 've had, great salads clearly fresh/homemade shepards pie), drinks were great, service awesome atmosphere perfect to watch the Bs game. We also had Sunday breakfast. Hubby says the hash was best he has had. Thanks for the great meals, we will be back!

I truly enjoyed my time there; they are genuinely great people! The food was outstanding, particularly the Reuben with added cole slaw and pastrami. This was my first visit, and they absolutely nailed my experience! I highly recommend this cool spot! Thank you, Louis and Ruth, for being amazing!
Went for lunch while at a conference downtown. First time there and it was great! Generous portions on the sandwiches. Even though it was crazy busy, our server gave us equal attention. can’t wait to check out the night life there!
Great food, huge portions excellent staff. Our server, Candace, was a hoot!! This is my go-to pub when I travel into Providence.

This is a classic pub with fantastic food. The owner is amazing, and I've been coming here for years. If you're in the mood for a traditional Irish pub experience, you can't go wrong here.
This is an exceptional Irish pub that truly meets your expectations. The food is excellent, and the service is remarkable, even with just one server managing both the bar and taking orders. Make sure to sample any of the desserts; they will definitely leave you feeling satisfied. Plus, they have a fantastic selection of Scotch whiskey and draft beer.
I initially visited Murphy's Deli And just for the bar, and even that experience was efficient and enjoyable. Now, having tried their cheeseburger—a personal benchmark when trying a new place—I can confidently say it's excellent. The burger is thick, juicy, and cooked perfectly to a true medium, unlike many places that overcook it. The toasted, buttered buns and real cheddar cheese really elevate the sandwich. The cheeseburger, along with the fries, is definitely worth the price. I’ll be returning for more. This place earns a solid five stars from me. (Ignore the ketchup and mustard in the photo—that was entirely my doing.)
