We had... read more Went for a birthday dinner. Exceptional. The crab cake appetizer was likely the best we had. It was airy, not dense and perfectly seasoned and prepared. We had one Rhode Island clam chowder. Tasty and smoky. For entrees we had the stuffed shrimp and the tuna. The latter was high quality but just a bit chewy- which was a bit unexpected. Wrapped up with the flourless chocolate with a candle. Excellent spot. Excellent meal!

There's really not anything remarkable about the restaurant. The food is fine, not outstanding. I can always count on it being serviceable and decent. The times that I have been there, it's always been busy, so people must enjoy it. With so many dynamic restaurants popping up, dining at Hemenway's just feels a little dull, a little flat. I'm sure it's a great restaurant for many people. For me, it's basic old Rhode Island fare and experience.

We went for my grandmothers birthday she turned 80 and we left with more negative things to say than positive to be nice about it
