They do simple breakfast well, the portions are generous and the atmosphere is energetic and lively like an Italian household. Weak mocha. The milk was lacking in texture and the coffee was a little burnt. Nonna’s breakfast. Eggs cooked in a rich tomato sauce with cacciatore sausage, pine nuts, chilli, garlic and onions served with wood oven toast. The eggs were perfectly cooked and rich golden yolks were gushing out as soon as I cut into them while the tomato sauce was rich and tangy with a mild heat. The sausage was deliciously salty and spicy. The best baked eggs I’ve had to date.
Just had a really poor breakfast from Caffe Cena. Ordered the ‘Cena works’. Food took 35mins to come out, it was cold and just of really low quality. Very soggy mushrooms, tomato and sausage. For the price, I expected a lot more. My sister ordered the smashed avo and her poached eggs were also cold : would not recommend this place although I was a frequent visitor in the past.
Caffe Cena offers an excellent breakfast menu. I enjoyed the smashed avocado with poached eggs, while my friend chose Nonna's breakfast, packed with vegetables and eggs. For $26 through Groupon, we each had a main breakfast dish and a hot drink. The food was delicious, healthy, and well-prepared. Service was prompt, and the restaurant is clearly a popular and bustling spot.
