Compared to the normal food offering in sarlat this is in a different class and so much better value for money. The foie gras and beef were amazing. Chicken brochettes for children was so good my son had 2 portions. Bill for 3 with wine and tip just over €100 couldn’t fault it.

After eating duck and foie gras for the past few days and after looking at the many similar menus in the old town, we decided to try something different and are so happy we did. Amazing meal: I don’t like eggplant but his amuse bouche of aubergine “pearls” with pesto, mozzarella, balsamic was a wonderful combination of flavours. The seafood “surprise” was an artfully plated platter of smoked salmon, perfectly cooked scallops, and seafood tartare with fish roe. The beef with bordelaise sauce was so good my husband wanted to lick the plate. We both thought the beef was better than the beef we recently had at a one star Michelin restaurant a few days ago. My chestnut cream dessert was excellent. The dinner menu (3 courses) for 29E each is an incredible value for this caliber of cooking. The waiter was excellent. The chef was welcoming, friendly, approachable and even showed us his array of specialty spices used to create his dishes. This is a must-do if you are in Sarlat!
