The decision to spend Easter holidays in the charming little hilly town of Premilcuore in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna was taken for me when I received an invitation form a cousin who lives there. ‘You’d love it,’ she had said. I did. The decision to go and try out the small family restaurant of Ridolla just outside the town was also hers. ‘You’d love it,’ she had said again, and again I did. Nestled between two lush-green hills close to the Rabbi river, Ridolla doubles as a little hotel and equestrian center too. This is the right place for those who love outdoor activities in a pristine environment away from mobile coverage. Unfortunately I was there for the food only but I was not disappointed. Anyone who loves Italian food would find in Ridolla the authentic home made version. All food is freshly prepared from ingredients grown locally, so I was told. But who cares. I was treated to an unforgettable culinary feast in a charming atmosphere. No wonder Premilcuore translates as close-to-the-heart. I’m taking the family there next year and have already secured the rooms.
We slept in a nice ancient house made by stone and wood, really confortable and suggestive. Food was delicious and the atmoshere really romantic. There is also a big riding school equipped with really beatifull arabian horses. Ridolla is only 1 h by car from Florence, and is in the middle of a really beatifull national park . i strongly suggest to visit this place.
