We stopped for a quick coffee on a Sunday when the place was packed, but they were still quick and courteous. The place is very nice.
Professional staff, great courtesy starting from the owners, and everything was excellent!
The restaurant is located on Via Bettino Ricasoli, in the heart of the historic center, opposite Palazzo Pretorio and close to the main squares, making it convenient for both locals and tourists. The atmosphere is welcoming and convivial, with indoor tables in the dining rooms and seating outside or on the veranda; it feels like just like home.

Caffe Bunoamici is a great spot to grab a drink and relax on one of the main shopping streets/squares in Prato. There is tons of space inside, but you're best off sitting on one of the outside tables where the whole town seems to walk by. Always lively, with friendly staff, and reasonable drink prices.
We were in here on a cold morning before visiting the Duomo. After an early train from Florence and a cold walk into town from the train station, Caffe Buonamici was a warm, noisy and welcoming place to have a Cappuccino and a pastry. We spent 20 minutes here warming up, enjoying the atmosphere and have a very good coffee and pastry.
Prato seems to be pretty much off the tourist track, despite being an interesting town, and walking round the medieval centre you'd be forgiven for thinking most of the restaurants listed on Trip Advisor must be in the industrial suburbs. It was genuinely difficult to find somewhere to lunch with outside seating (it was a very hot day) in the centre of town. We only came across the restaurant in the Piazza Buonamici because it is literally outside the Tourist Information Office (which helpfully is closed at lunch-time). If this is the Caffe Buonamici (the Trip Advisor map puts it a street away) then it is to be highly recommended. There was a very pleasant seating area under large sun-shades in the centre of the Piazza and food was brought out of the cafe/bar/restaurant in the adjacent street. The menu wasn't extensive but I was able to have an excellent salad and my partner a pasta dish, washed down with some white wine, it was a very agreeable lunch and for a very modest price. Going in to the restaurant itself for the toilets (like most places in Italy there is just one for everybody) showed that there was quite a large dining area inside, although on such a beautiful day everybody had chosen to eat in the Square. Would definitely head here for lunch if in Prato.
I was visiting Prato with friends and one of my friends indicated that the Cafe Buonamici served the best hot chocolate in the world . So, we went to the cafe. The hot chocolate was very nice, as was an expresso and the pastries. Service was quick and polite. All-in-all, a very pleasant experience. I would happily stop in here, again.
