Chez Marcel - Prague

They served an excellent meal. the starter salat with goat cheese was large enough for a meal itself. we had a carafe of the house red and it added the hanger steak and the huh good. not hard on the wallet for the tourist section of prag.

So ideally french. Everything about this restaurant oozes quality. Delicious food, from the tasty house wine to the dressing on the perfectly tossed salad. Excellent in so many ways. Highly recommended.

Ambiente is beautiful. We ordered two sandwiches at lunch time which were really really really good. I don’t know about the wine, because we had beer which was also pretty good.

Stopped by for a break from walking Prague to enjoy a glass of wine. Very nice relaxing experience. This is a smoking bar. We are nonsmokers, but it did not bother us. The people were very nice.

We ate at Chez Marcel a couple years ago. We liked the décor, the plate presentation, and the menu, but the food itself was very disappointing. Both of our meals were dry and very, very over-salted. It all added up to one thing: A great restaurant owner and an incompetent chef. Our impression was confirmed when we talked with the chef. He had no formal culinary training, had no experience with French cooking before this restaurant (he previously cooked Northafrican food), and he should never have been put in charge of a French restaurant's kitchen. In short, we paid good money for bad food. If you go, hopefully your experience will be better (and the prior chef will be gone)
