What viaggiatrice49 dislikes about Hostaria 1898:
Rustica trattoria piemontese; good the reception of the owner; very slow service; right prices; discontinuous cuisine: squash shaped with cream of cheese excellent, zucchini stuffed pessime, gnocchine of potatoes excellent, but seasoned in a bit strange pachino tomatoes, zucchini julienne excess of speck and ham), pears Martin sec cooked in the excellent wine. If you return from a trip outside the door we stop at this restaurant, after reading good reviews and I must say that how much bed has reflected in all the excellent experience lived . Small restaurant, family, mountain menu not too varied but of quality, attentive service and effective .. We took a mix of appetizers both cold and warm under the advice of the owner to follow sausage with mushrooms and polenta ... Suggested local , we will definitely return

We stopped here for lunch and sat outside in the sun. Very friendly service from the owners who are very accommodating, great menu of homemade pasta, local rustic dishes and delicious deserts all at extremely reasonable prices. Beautiful views of the mountains. A fountain to collect fresh mountain water too. They also sell local products and newspapers ecc. Recommended for a lunch as you travel along the valley. Much less touristy than the other villages along the road.

We were in Pragelato for two nights, and we ate here twice. If we were in town longer, we would have eaten here more! Unfortunately, we were not that hungry the first night we were there and did not take full advantage of the delicious food. We remedied that by returning the next day for a midday meal. The meals we had here count among some of the best we had on that trip which included Paris, London, Burgundy, and the Piedmont region. Aside from being fresh and delicious, however, the price was unbelievably reasonable. The proprietors/servers were incredibly friendly, nice, and generous helpful and eager for us to enjoy our meal. We felt welcomed and valued the minute we stepped in the door. Our first night, tired from a long drive from France, we arrived an hour before they actually started serving dinner (which, when we were there, was at 7:30), and during our wait we were offered glasses of Proseco and invited to sit at a table as final preparations were made. Everything we ate was completely delicious, including the local cheese (which exceeded, I think, many of the cheeses I have had in France) and the local wine, which we received in an unmarked bottle. I enjoyed the best gnocchi of my life. The desserts were clearly homemade and displayed on a table at the front of the restaurant. When we were there, it seemed the only other customers were locals. The atmosphere was cozy, comfortable, and casual a stove in the dining room had a few large pots from which some of the dinner dishes were served. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant; it was among the highlights of our trip. I hope to make it back to the Pragelato region, and if I do then I most definitely will return to this restaurant!
