While some guests find the staff friendly and appreciate the vegan options, consistent issues with food temperature and availability—particularly with their beloved bacon rolls—have led to disappointment. The cleanliness and hygiene ratings raise eyebrows, despite a seemingly tidy appearance. For those craving reliable comfort food, Greggs may fit the bill, but discerning diners might seek fresher, more thoughtfully prepared alternatives nearby. Overall, the potential for better management and attention to detail remains apparent.
If a restaurant advertises that they offer breakfast rolls until 11 am, they should ensure that they have enough bacon and hash browns available. Unfortunately, when I arrived, they had run out of bacon and I felt like an inconvenience when I asked for more. Despite my efforts to be understanding, I was disappointed to find that they only had "5 slices of bacon" left, making it difficult to order for myself and four others. The manager's response that each roll only contained 3 slices of bacon confused me. Overall, I would rate the experience 3 stars due to mismanagement. I appreciated that the staff cooked extra bacon for me, but I was disappointed by the lack of consideration for my needs as a customer who arrived before closing time.
Food is colder than the service and as bland as a chain can get. Don't bother with familiarity there are at least two bakeries and a number of cafes that offer everything Greggs do but are fresh, made locally and care about your custom. Why do you think Bakers was dropped from its name?
Walked in , waited to be served, so staff at the counter, walked out. Not much more you can say really.
The hygiene ratings haven't been great at this store, although it looks quite reasonable to the untrained eye. I only visit for the occasional hot drink and a vegan sausage roll, which are pretty good. This store is in the town centre, so handy to pop to if you're in town shopping. Parking close by is hit-and-miss, although there are a couple of disabled spots right outside. Service is variable, too: some staff have been excellent, some slow and uncaring. I've never been in when it's super busy so waiting times aren't bad.
No matter what time of day you go, the bacon is always cold, which is not great for a hot sandwich. They have a machine that is supposed to keep it warm, but I suggest getting a new one since the bacon is always cold.
