Description

The Castle Kitchen in Montgomery used to serve fabulous coffee, but has now switched to a poor quality brand. The service has been lacking, and the woodburner is rarely lit, leaving customers cold. The food quality and service have also been disappointing to some diners. However, others have found the food to be tasty, homemade, and delicious. Despite some mixed reviews, many still enjoy visiting the cozy venue for lunch, with favorites including quiche, salad, and carrot cake. The Castle Kitchen is a charming spot above a deli, offering a warm atmosphere and a good selection of food and drinks.

Always a fabulous place to come for lunch, we had the special, chestnut Wellington. Tasty but chestnuts probably made the texture a bit claggy. Anyway, more to the point, I had the rhubarb and custard cake to follow. This was absolutely gorgeous, nom nom! Moist, tasty and delicious flavours. Partner had a scone, this was also really light and fluffy. Beautiful! All compliments to the cook!

You can get shabby chic or shabby! Staff are great, really friendly and welcoming. Lunch was good, nothing we couldn't have cooked at home. Portions have decreased, while prices have increased. It could have been so much better.

We called in first for a mid morning drink of hot chocolate. This was about 10 am and we looked at the menu and decided to return for lunch. The hot chocolate was very nice indeed. When we returned the place was very busy and we sat in the courtyard at the back...great surroundings for a great lunch! Herb and cheese scone to die for) with cheese, chutney and salad. The salad was beautifully fresh with a light dressing and the carrot salad was exceptional. The cheese was Worcester Hop a lovely Welsh creamy texture) with a lovely taste. The spicy tomato and caramelised onion chutney complemented the rest of the dish. We were able to buy both the cheese and the chutney form their small deli to take home with us. Both the latte and the tea we had with it were excellent. The staff are friendly, helpful and informative, it is a joy to visit and we would recommend it to all our friends.

I’ve been to this cafe several times and the food is always really lovely. They serve amazing lunches and cakes. The cafe also has a little shop where you can buy fresh bread and other lovely local produce, well worth a visit.
