What Samantha Marshall doesn't like about Bay Tree Tea Room:
A strange experience. The inside made me concerned about the hygiene of the place it was dirty and had a strange damp smell to it. There was a water leak coming through from upstairs and it felt really dark and un inviting. The food was ok I had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich but the cheese didn’t taste right so I left most of that. Not sure I’d recommend. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 View all feedback.

Had a few visits to The Bay Tree but was really disappointed with our visit last Saturday (23rd Sept) my teenager daughter asked if we could go for lunch and have the afternoon tea. I think it’s £16.95 pp and felt excited what would arrive. Unfortunately myself and my daughter felt very disappointed with the food which arrived. Sandwiches were cheese and Branston and coronation chicken. Four slices of bread in total into triangles. One piece of quiche (no more than 3cm In diameter), two scones with cream and jam, two cup cakes, sponge cake and two macaroons. I just feel they could do a bit more on the savoury side and unfortunately a tad disappointing and not expected as others have told me what they have received. Wonderful cafe. Huge selection of loose leaf tea (black and green) served in large tea pots, enough for 3 cups, plus. The white tea was good quality. Charmingly quirky decor. They love dogs. Made a fuss of our tiny dog, and gave her a dog biscuit the size of her head! (With permission). They have gluten free bread, and the menu is marked up where GF is an option. Ordering GF therefore straightforward. On the cake side, they have GF scones. The non-GF Victoria sponge was excellent, homemade. All the cakes looked great, I wanted to try all of them (displayed on the counter). On a Saturday this cafe is busy even in September. It is busy for a reason. Despite being busy the staff and service were great. I loved it, highly recommended. Dietary restrictions: They stick gluten free bread and have GF options.
