John,... read more We absolutely adored the Modern Peasant! The food was amazing, from the fois gras to the Bacchus Salad to the Profiteroles, and the drinks were delicious. John, the owner and chef, provided exceptional service that exceeded our expectations. We are already looking forward to returning!

We had heard great reviews about this restaurant but hadn't had the opportunity to visit until now. While waiting for the ferry, we decided to stop by and within just 10 minutes, we were holding a generous serving of delicious food. Thank you, Modern Peasant, for a wonderful meal! We regret that we devoured it too quickly to snap a picture.

The chef/owner serves lunch and takes the time to chat with customers, sharing personal stories and details about the restaurant. The atmosphere is fantastic and it's a hidden gem in Powell River. The chef's recommendations were spot on (although, it seems like everything on the menu is delicious) and his wine pairings were excellent. I have nothing negative to say and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I forgot my glasses at home so did not get to read the liner notes but the meeting of it and my palet was poetry. The main course was.... and mainly because I have never had the pleasure of this dish Beef bourguignon was better than sex, I mean this was heaven with every meeting of my palet. We had it with Fries which is funny but hey it was perfect together! Heres my photo!
