Reviews - Chamoy
Reviews summary
At this restaurant, diners experience a mix of highs and lows. While some rave about delicious and generously sized burritos and the refreshing chamango drink, others report food safety concerns and inadequate service. The menu dazzles with unique offerings like the California Hot Cheeto Burrito, yet issues with order accuracy and staff communication persist. Cleanliness and overall atmosphere receive praise, but several patrons express disappointment over the quality of service and food consistency, particularly with carne asada. Ultimately, while there are standout items, many agree that a visit requires caution. Consider your options before stopping by.

CHAMANGO! Where has this incredible drink been all my life?! It was amazing! The woman at the front was working tirelessly to ensure my order and the drive-thru orders were completed promptly. The food was delicious too! I will definitely be returning. View all feedback.
What Heming Diep dislikes about Chamoy:
This place is certainly unique. I've noticed some questionable activities happening at night, possibly involving illegal substances. It might be a front, or maybe the new management is just experimenting with the atmosphere. Regardless, I didn’t find the food to be very enjoyable. On the bright side, the interior looks quite nice. The food is excellent! They offer a unique burrito that includes hot Cheetos, and it's truly the best. Additionally, their sauces are fantastic. I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Terrible customer service. I walked in and waited almost 5 mins. The person working the counter didnt even acknowledge I was there. I finally left along with the person behind me. Here's a hint...if you're busy tell the customer you'll be right with them, and don't ignore them. Plenty of other taco shops in poway that have good and or great service. No need to go here for no service and high prices!! There was no one else eating in the place and only one car in the drive thru. I don't know how they stay in business...
Raspados are bombalicious! Come get 2, haha! Like a taco shop but they also serve ice cream. And if you don't know what a raspado is, try one. It is shaved ice with not kona syrup. They have flavors like coconut, walnut, strawberry, vanilla and they are not water based syrups. I can't express how fabulous they are, just go have one and thank me later.

It seems like the owner of this restaurant believes he's above the law, or perhaps he has something to hide. I recently had my purse stolen while I was there, and fortunately, a very accommodating woman at the counter offered to help by checking the surveillance footage. The owner promised to come in the next morning, but he never showed up. When I inquired later, one of his employees said he would arrive in two or three hours, but yet again, he did not appear. He then claimed he would show the footage to the police, but that turned out to be untrue as well. The Poway Sheriff contacted the restaurant, only to be informed that the owner was unavailable. I would suggest steering clear of this establishment altogether.
This place is an absolute treasure! They go above and beyond with their delicious menu. On our way north from Chula Vista for a family hike, we were all craving a torta and chamango. We stumbled upon this spot by chance, and I'm so glad we did! The food is outstanding, the service is top-notch, and the restaurant is spotless. If you're heading north, be sure to stop here for some delicious food, ice cream, and snacks—it's a fantastic place for authentic Mexican cuisine. You definitely won’t regret it!
I'm usually not one to write negative reviews, but when it comes to my family's meals, it's really important to me. I ordered a torta for $11 that was meant to have carnitas, but it arrived burnt. Both halves only contained the top of a tomato. The mango smoothie tasted like soap, and the ice cream in it seemed old, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste that reminded me of mold. I've never had a smoothie quite like that before. My son had one as well, and I'm concerned he might end up with an upset stomach or something worse. This was my first visit, and it will definitely be my last.

This restaurant is fantastic! I highly recommend trying the California Hot Cheeto Burrito. The menu can be a bit overwhelming, so we decided to go inside and check it out. While it’s on the pricier side, the portion sizes are generous, making it worth it.
This place is paradise! They surpass expectations they make everything! I'm leaving chula vista to go north to go on a hike with the family and our family is craving a torta and chamango. We found this place by faith. The food is great, the service, and the place is super clean. If your on your way north, you have to stop here to grab some food, ice cream, snacks, una comida mexicana muy buena. You won't be disappointed.
Food is great. I ordered some buffalo fries, mangoneada, and large Jamaica. Great taste in everything, and great prices. Biggest upset was the wait time. Got to the drive-thru and it took them about 5 minutes for them to say something. Then they finally said something and they put me on hold for another 8 minutes. Then I finally ordered and it took another 25 minutes to get my food. That?s why I only give this place 3 stars. I get that these things take time to cook, but that?s was ridiculous.
This is a great spot for enjoying delicious food. I rated it 4 stars mainly because the prices are a bit steep, and the music was a little too loud. Overall, I’d give it 4.5 stars. We ordered the carne asada quesadilla and the beef/chicken enchilada plate, and both my girlfriend and I were very pleased with the generous portions and flavor. Definitely worth a visit!
It appears that this owner thinks he is above the law or what is he hiding? I had my purse stolen at his restaurant recently. The very helpful lady at the counter called him to view the surveillance video. He said that he would come in the next morning we went, he was a no show. His employee said that he would be in two or three hours later, no show again. This time he said that he would show the police the video oops, I guess that wasn't true either, as the Poway Sheriff contacted the restaurant and they told the Sherriff that he could not be contacted. I would recommend skipping that guys restaurant.
