Although it looks so good on paper and was supported by good to very good reviews, petrel kitchen could not deliver. the feeling that I get is that the menu does not quite know what it wants to do with itself, and so instead of aligning to some that really mean business, offers on a smorgasbord of mediocrity. the service was also average, with someone who asks us whether we were willing to order within minutes before we completely leave for the rest of the meal. I should have let my bauchfeeling go behind the menu, that the optimism is damned.

We got a cute little table in the bar room (2 tables only) and had a delightful lunch. The lemony hummus with pesto was spot on and my cinnamon spiced duck salad was superb. Brilliant service (friendly, professional yet casual) and wine list.

Clever foodies park at al fresco tables overlooking the now-gentrified Springfield Mall to fuel up on the fine brunch offerings of owner/chef Clinton Whiteman (ex- Rockpool before visiting new neighbour Harris Farm . From a postage-stamp sized kitchen C
