Plaza Del Sol

I ordered salad with figs and Parma ham and really enjoyed it but my husbands sandwich was lacking some fresh greens. Great sitting area outside, perfect view.

A great bar/café for breakfast quick snack and evening drinks. A fantastic view all the way to Syracusa sometimes. On the beach with outdoor tables. Summer only. Service is good and friendly and the granitas are homemade and delicious. Try the almond milk one.

We were early for our dinner in Portopalo, and stopped at Plaza del Sol for an aperitivo. A small sheltered terrace offers a beautiful view on the sea and the island nearby; the bar is nicely decorated, and proudly displays it is the most Southern bar in Europe, islands excluded . The staff was friendly and efficient, COVID precautions were fully taken, and it was a pleasant stay. For three prosecco, one beer (the birra dello Stretto , a real Sicilian beer made by a local brewery near Messina, not yet taken over by some multinational brewing company and produced far from Sicily) and some water we paid €19. We later noticed that they offer a range of cocktails and various finger food items (I noticed some interesting bruschetta), so we have to go back for further exploration and enjoyment.

Worth a visit! Absolutely delicious granita, try the almond or peach and you will remember the place for the rest of ypur life
