Quirky bar that decor wise, so I'm told, is loosely modeled on Orwell's 1984. Had a small but decent beer selection. Didn't try the food. Server was nice, but can't say I'm a fan of having to go up to the bar to order my drinks (everyone funnelled to one server). View all feedback.
My brother and I were wandering around in the rain looking for a restaurant, we almost walked by, but we be forever grateful to whatever made us stop. This place is awesome! The atmosphere alone is worth the visit, I wish I knew who created all the art that embellished the place, it will take many visits to actually look at everything. The beer selection is more than adequate and the food is pub grub with a lean toward hearty German fare. I had the spatezel, sooooo good. Thanks a million!
Pretty great happy hour, and their venison burger looked beautiful! It was a little tough to eat, but I 'll chalk that up to being the usual 'gamey ' texture. We will totally be back to try more food and drink options.
Awesome neighborhood bar. Dark and cozy, well executed Orwellian theme, fantastic spaetzle.

This is definitely one of my favorite bars in Portland. The bartenders are excellent, and the food pairs perfectly with the beers. The place is themed around 1984, although I didn't catch on to that until I had visited several times. Once I did, I noticed countless subtle references to the book, which is really cool. They also have an interesting selection of beers!
