I had a thin mint brownie and a salted caramel cookie bar, each priced at $4. While the portions were a bit on the small side, they definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. I loved the flavors of the brownie, but I wished it had the same texture and chewiness as the cookie bar. If they could combine the two, it would have been an absolute winner for me. What Cassandra H doesn't like about Petunia's Pies And Pastries:
I wanted to love this place, gluten free and vegan options sounded so promising with my gluten and dairy intolerances. Sadly, although the cupcakes and cookies looked lovely, but they were lack luster. The coconut baby cakes are very moist but are missing any flavor. They do not taste like coconut, the texture of coconut is there, but that's about it. So much so, that until I got a piece of coconut in a bite, I wasn'... View all feedback.
I'm not gluten-free, but I quite like Petunia's for a cup of coffee and sweet something or other, plus they're open later than most similar businesses. Take your gluten-free and/or omnivorous friends! I haven't been a fan of their stuff that I've bought in a grocery store... I'm not convinced it travels well or holds up in plastic wrap...but I've enjoyed both savory and sweet stuff bought in the shop. So, if you've been disappointed by something bought elsewhere, go to the source and give them another try. They've just opened dine-in again, too, so patrons can better enjoy the cute bakeshop vibe over a generously sized slice of layer cake.
Petunia’s Pies and Pastries was a great vegan cafe to try out in Portland. We were looking for lunch, so finding a place that also has vegan sandwiches, pot pies, and Mac and cheese was great. I enjoyed the large variety of sweets available and my colleague tried some ice cream. We also each had a sandwich. Unfortunately, stock was limited. Their pot pie was unavailable, as was their tempeh bacon, meaning a number of the meal items could not be ordered as listed. Additionally, it was a bit pricey for the portion size. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere and tasty food, and am always thrilled to try an all-vegan restaurant.
Delicious amazing vegan treats. The savory cheddar herb and scone is soooo good too! The lattes were nice and the vibe is clean and fresh with good music.
The food here, whether you are a vegan and avoid gluten or not is spectacular. Most of their product is sweet, pastries and ice cream but they also have savory items. Their cheese, egg and sausage biscuit defies reality. It has the taste and texture of a good non-vegan biscuit. I had to ask the staff if was truly vegan and gluten free. I thought perhaps I’d misunderstood the menu. Their coffee is also very good. I highly recommend this store.
So, so good! My family stopped here for the first time yesterday and got a cupcake, cherry pie, salted caramel bar and cheddar and herb scone. My daughter with a food allergy loved being able to pick out anything she wanted since the whole bakery is vegan. We’ll definitely be back.
