What JoeM doesn't like about Paragon - Portland:
First time here and we had a mixed response. She said her salmon was delicious, my trout dish was average at best. Took forever to get dessert and we had an event to get to so the added stress at the end of the dinner didn't help much. We'll probably try it again another time. View all feedback.
Our server was great, ambiente great as we sit next to the kamin. eating was very good. several in our group had the tillamook grilled cheese and tomato soup that was excellent. we started with the glazed brussel sprouts appetizer fantastic! my only comment is that some of the other dishes might have been more spiced, this can only be my palate.
Although the restaurant participated in Seattle Restaurant week and only served the prefix menu for the evening, the server allowed us to make slight modifications to create our own dish, which came out EXCELLENT!
We love Paragon! They have tasty cocktails and their happy hour is awesome. Last night we came in late so happy hour was over and we just ordered off the regular menu. I love everything. The bar is cozy. The staff is great! We always go back!
Had the corned beef sandwich. Very tasty; though served on oversized slices of bread. I left much uneaten bread on the plate as I found there to be much to much of it.
I have to say, I was really sad to be disappointed by Paragon. It was my one meal in Portland on my drive through, and I'd done lots of research. Maybe I hit it on a bad day but the food was just not good at all. The setting is awesome, they had the garage doors open, and it was beautiful weather out which made the food a big let down. I had the French Dip sandwich terribly dry meat with zero flavor, and the jus which should have helped both of those problems was just as flavorless. I ate three bites and then sent it back. I ordered a side of the rosemary mac cheese instead it was fine I guess, but I was overwhelmed by the flavor of rosemary and the cheese sauce was pretty milky, which detracted from what could have been a great sauce if it were thicker/creamier. The highlight was the glass of Oregon wine and the nice weather. The server was nice and took the sandwich off my tab without me even asking but no one came to ask why I didn't like it or what the problem was. Paragon was a miss for me.
