The eats were presented beautifully and top notch in flavor. Wait time on a Saturday afternoon was about 90 minutes. A way to check in online would be a great addition. Also, if you put two people on a big table it wouldn't hurt to ask them if they wouldbe willing to share with another duo. We would have shared our table if asked. View all feedback.
What johnwK6732YO doesn't like about Broder Café:
Swedish food Bad parking very difficult to find a spot Polite staff and both outside and inside dining. Both breakfast and lunch menu The swedish hotdogs were wrapped in a tortilla and had shrimp and potatoes with pickled vegetables and salad were delicious in different ways. Swedish pancakes and vegetarian hash are good View all feedback.
The food is excellent, a solid 5/5—no complaints on that front. However, we had to wait 90 minutes from the time we arrived until our food was served. In my opinion, that long of a wait wasn't worth it.
Fantastic food, great service. Very loud inside the small space next to the kitchen due to dishwashing.
Biked from Sellwood Park to SE 52nd and stopped here for breakfast. It was about a 30min wait but it was worth it. My friend and I split a ham breakfast sandwich and the Danish pancakes. They were worth the wait.
Super good! Best æbleskivers I've ever had at a restaurant.
That being said, it’s worth the wait—trust me. Since getting a table here felt like an adventure, we decided to go all out: we tried the Folorade Agg (a creamy egg skillet with creamed spinach, mushrooms, ham, and a crunchy Parmesan panko topping), the Tunnbrodsrulle (a Swedish hot dog wrapped in flatbread), along with a side of pickled herring in lemon caraway dressing, a side of pork apple sausage, a Danish Mary, and a Midnight Sun. Everything was incredible! To start, the Danish Mary—a cocktail made with dill aquavit instead of vodka (if you choose)—paired with a spicy mix and a dill-salted rim, makes it one of the tastiest Bloody Marys around. The Folorade Agg was rich, creamy, and hearty, with a delightful crunch from the Parmesan crust. However, for me, the highlight was the Tunnbrodsrulle, which features a beef frank, potato pancake, shrimp salad, pickles, and mustard all wrapped in flatbread. It seems like a strange combination on paper, but together, it’s wonderfully refreshing. Anyone skeptical about hot dogs should reconsider—this version is worth taking seriously. Even the pickled herring impressed me, and I generally shy away from fish in snack form. Perhaps my recent exploration of sardines at home opened my palate to new flavors? While I wouldn’t order it all the time, it was a fun experience with a dish that typically would have me running for the hills! I discovered there are two more Broder locations (Nord and Soder) in the Portland area, which gives me hope that I can enjoy these amazing dishes without the wait. Maybe they have a more modern approach to managing their waitlists? I really hope so, because this unintentional gatekeeping is preventing many people from savoring these fantastic meals, which feels like a crime against humanity. After all, some people might head to Ikea for their Swedish meatball fix instead! Oh, the horror!
