The food was phenomenal as ever. One of the best breakfasts in Portland. Many original dishes and delicious options, and during regular service great service and attention to detail. Only what prevents me from giving 5* is that if you go "off hours, between 1pm and 3 pm at weekends, you have to order from the wafer window that had some really bad service. What Delpha Shanahan doesn't like about Bread & Ink Cafe:
I haven't been in bread and ink since the pandemic, I was so excited to see that they were open to Google. When we arrived, it was completely open without someone greeting us, but had a sign that said? Outdoor seating and further information? Order in the window? No breakfast menu to see just an expensive lunch / dinner menu? The only window available to go and order is Waffle Window, a completely different restauran... View all feedback.
Condemned four out of five plates and loaded us extra and when we mentioned it they kept us waiting in the line to fix the review so our food was cold. Terrible. The chicken and biscuits (which wasn't even what I ordered, but still ate) was crushed and dirty. The salad was dirty and had hair in it. 10 for 10 would NOT recommend. Worst experience in a long time.

I am extremely disappointed that I was wasting my time when she was on her website or on Google about dunes in or just out..

Whomever tried this weekend what I can only imagine being charming, but came as abrasive and rude. Very disorganized as they had no menus available for B
B I had always been a consistent go to. They haven't gone back to serving tables so you have self serve yet the prices are outrageous/equivalent to San Francisco. There are still too many great breakfast places in Portland and on East side as options. You've comfortably used potatoes to make people feel their getting more...poor man's breakfast for a rich person's wallet.
What happened to this place?! B&I was my absolute favorite diner for years but new ownership has ruined it, or at least blown it. Not having dine-in service made sense during the pandemic but for some reason this cafe can?t pull it together and create a welcoming atmosphere at a time when we?re all pining to get back to normal. The food and service used to be great but now it?s dismissive, indifferent and forgettable. We?ve tried going back a few times but can?t justify it any more. Wake me up when B&I returns to its former glory.
