Ben Esther's Vegan Jewish Deli

Oh my God, this deli is such a gem! It took a bit of effort to get there from PDX to my home, but I’m so glad I made the trip! I ordered the lox bagel sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. The cream cheese was outstanding, I loved the smokiness of the vegan salmon, and the addition of dill and capers was fantastic. I should mention that I’ve never tried real lox or a traditional lox bagel, so I can’t compare it to the vegan version, but I found it to be amazing regardless. I wish I had ordered two so I could have taken one with me; it was that good! Next time I’m back in Portland, I’ll definitely swing by and pick up a few bagels. So many choices! We tried the tuna salad and some of the delicious sandwiches. Everything was excellent. We even went back after our meal to take home some tuna salad!

The food here is delicious and the people working are nice! They have lots of options for bagels or other deli foods.

So much fun to be able to go to a vegan deli. We ordered a plain bagel with veggie cream cheese (my sister really enjoyed it), the Benny’s Brisket (they were out of steak so they subbed corned beef) but my mom really enjoyed it. I got the Rueben which was good but could have used more toppings (sauce, sauerkraut cheese) to even out all the meat. Still very good!
