Japanese black sesame latte, decaf: fantastic. Restroom with a cheetah eating it’s own tail: stunning. Barista is always a pleasure. Highly recommend.
I've been living in Portland for a few years and move this summer. Of all the many coffee shops in Portland, this is the place I visited the most and will miss the most. Barista is centrally located 23rd between many shops and walking distance from the Alano club. It's the kind of coffee shop you would go for a takeout latte but drink there instead due to the friendly workers and nice ambiance. The staff are always so friendly, they are warm and welcoming with a smile every single visit. The booths are comfortable and I've brought many friends for conversation or college study groups. Plus, the lattes are amazing and they are climate friendly. Goodbye Barista! You are a Portland institution and the city is lucky to have you.
Fantastic atmosphere, customer service, and talent. The inside was clean and well designed. Relaxing music and the customer service was beyond what you would think. The coffee was terrific. The talent was proven in the taste. Unlike many coffee companies, this location keeps to a more traditional coffee size and sugar level. Watching the coffee being made was a mix of a chemist, an upscale bartender, and that guy that stands at the front desk of the hotel in John Wick. Unique skill, measuring every drop of grain to a perfect recipe and in a very timely manner keeping an extensive line moving. I will be making this a stop as best I can!

Pleasant baristas, happy to explain some of their beans and brew preferences. I liked that they also carried other regional beans beyond their own. In fact, the espresso I had was not their own roast but one of the local roasters that you could purchase off the shelf for home brewing. That's super cool!
