My husband and I spent our honeymoon in the Naples area, based out of Ercolano but travelling around. On our first day we stumbled upon this place for lunch after a long walk to Portici. We could not have been luckier! After ordering (gnocchi and a seafood spaghetti), we were treated to a free tomato pizza as a surprise starter, and it only got better from there. Our food was incredible, and the portions were very ge... View all feedback.
What UKgricer doesn't like about Bayard Cafe:
Wanted to eat here for lunch. Lovely view but most of the menu was off! Perhaps this would account for there being no other people eating. Prices the highest we have seen anywhere on our trip to Napes for what is a simple cafe.. In the end we left and were charged nine euros for two small bottles of beer. On now looking at the other reviews all I can say is you have been warned View all feedback.
For a drink by the port it’s not bad. Don’t really understand the bad reviews. Great olives. Nice views of the bay. Beautiful sunsets.
Price is extreme high. Waiters was friendly. 2juice and two alcoholic drinks. Eur28!! Okay free chips.. and suddenly a pizza.. view is good friendly people. but prices way out.
We were recommended to come to this 'port ' area for a drink and something to eat. It is right by the Portici train station and you need to go under the train line (perfectly safe). The views from the restaurant and the sea wall opposite the cafe are stunning especially in the evening and when the sun sets. However this is where the good stuff ends. The staff were pretty non plussed about providing any kind of service and there were no prices on the drinks menu, so we had to ask. A glass of prosecco was €7.50 each and we asked how much a bottle was and the waitress thought about it and then came up with a price of €40 with a shrug of her shoulders! We settled for a glass each and it came with bar snacks cheeseless pizza (which was perfectly fine and edible) and some crisps and nuts. The experience was a bit weird as what few customers they had (2 other tables) were not greeted and had to seek out the waitress to get a menu and service. Maybe it was just a bad slow day being a Tuesday evening. However the coup de grace was when one of the 2 dogs padding around in the restaurant area then hitched its leg and relieved itself against one of the wine bucket stands..... we didn 't stay for dinner.
