Reviews - Chef Shell's Catering
Reviews summary
Chef Shell's is a charming restaurant that exudes the warmth of home-cooked meals, offering an enticing array of donuts, breakfast, and lunch options. While the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff receive high praise, experiences with catering services have proven inconsistent, particularly regarding timeliness and portion control during larger events. Signature items like apple fritters and specialty coffee stand out, impressing even the most discerning café aficionados. Despite some service challenges on busy days, the overall appeal of delicious comfort food and a welcoming environment makes Chef Shell’s a recommended destination for breakfast or lunch enthusiasts.

I'm so happy we've been on this jewel of a restaurant. Our whole small group was happyly impressed by leaks. I wish I had taken the photo before I ate it. Fish n Chips... View all feedback.

I was highly disappointed in the lack of professional respect. Customers should be informed not to have the waitress assume that you have been there before even after asking their preference on soup Sandwich and menu choices. I understand that local businesses are struggling but so are local people.
Wait staff are Pro's, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food is the best breakfast in town.
I never ate there before. First time ever and I wanted to try the biscuits and gravy. The waitress took my order and 4 minutes later said sry we have no biscuits. So I got 2 dozen of donuts and they were delicious.
Chef Shells just catered my wedding in Port Sanilac on June 24, 2023. The food itself was decent, but nothing to rave about. However, the food and staff were an hour late for dinner and when I had my maid of honor call to see where they were, she had to call 15+ times to get someone to answer. After the staff arrived they quickly set up and started calling tables. When I spoke with their catering staff over the phone, I paid for (and ordered) 160 plates. We had approximately 140 guests, and we ran out of food after the first 100 were served. The staff continued to blame the bride (me) saying that was all that [she] ordered. They were supposed to portion out the food for each guest, yet stood around while letting guests serve themselves at the buffet. I paid for 3 servers to be there to serve guests and all they did was replenish the trays at the buffet as they were getting low. The catering was the biggest disappointment of my wedding day.

What a great restaurant! Service was excellent! Everybody was kind. The 1/2 sandwich, 1/2 salad lunch was good and filled. The brownies are not too ashamed either!
Nice restaurant off the beaten path. The food tastes pretty good. Had corned beef hash and it was not the canned stuff like a lot of places, it was large chunks of potato and corned beef.
Amazing donuts!!! Delicious biscuits and gravy with pretty fantastic coffee…. What more do you need!? I haven’t tried lunch because the breakfast is always phenomenal!
Better get there early for donuts! And our apple fritters were lousy. Meijers are way better. I won't return anytime soon.
