What Ignacio Ornelas doesn't like about Rasa Restaurant & Lounge:
I went to use the restaurant and was told it was a new menu and there was no lunch menu, only a very limited range of options. The salmon that I chose was unavailable and I went for an interesting-looking vegetarian cauliflower option. The lovely lady at the front-desk recommended it. We just wanted to get away from the main strip of Port Douglas. This is a little gem that is hidden away from everywhere else. Quiet and relaxing, we looked over the pool which looked so inviting but I was not sure that it was open to general public. The restaurant menu and the feel of the restaurant looks so relaxing and welcoming. We chilled on the couches and watched the day go by and would visit again. I hear they have a great couple rooms in the spa, which we hope to visit later this week.
Away from the town of Port Douglas is this tranquil hideaway. The service is very attentive. Whilst the menu is quite small, there is something for all of our 7 diners to enjoy. The kids meals even include ice cream (happy kids!) The pork belly is a large serve and delicious. The fish - white and flaky, yumminess. The steak was expertly cooked. Highly recommend
I went to use the restaurant and was told it was a new menu and there was no lunch menu, only a very limited range of options. The salmon that I chose was unavailable and I went for an interesting-looking vegetarian cauliflower option. The lovely lady at the front-desk recommended it. What was presented looked okay (small for $19) but the taste was just awful. It seemed to be deep-fried and all I could make out was this over-cooked, oily garlic taste. There was no sauce or salads to counter the deep-fried oil. I ate as much as I could and literally felt nauseous. This was perhaps the worst 5-star food I've encountered. I would be embarrassed to present this at food in my home kitchen. The food is not what you would expect from a 5 star resort.
I have eaten dinner at this restaurant a few times and it doesn't disappoint. The food was delicious, the drinks reasonably priced and the setting exquisite. The wait staff were attentive and knowledgeable. I will definitely be returning!
Had a couple of meals here which were delicious! Having travelled to PD many times this was the first time we've been to Rasa. Thumbs up!
