Between us we had 5 different dishes! Everything was fabulous! The lasagna, fish and the prosciutto and mushrooms were really authentic Italian. The arrancia balls topped it all! Certainly be back here! View all feedback.
What Carrie Beatty doesn't like about Bucci @ Port Douglas:
A very expensive , very average Italian restaurant. we were told that there was a glitch in their computer system after waiting over an hour for 2 bowls of pasta at 6pm before they even got busy. Mine was a crab linguine, which was $26 for an entree size bowl of pasta with three small pieces of crab in it. My guest had a tiny serve of gnocchi. We left hungry and dissatisfied at our wait and the average, tiny portion... View all feedback.
To start with, we thought this place was going to be fantastic. We asked if there were Gluten Free options, as I have Coeliac Disease and we were assured that there were indeed Gluten Free options. We sat down and the waitress asked my Mum if she would like any drinks and Mum said 'oh, just some water for the table for now thanks'. So far so good. The menu's come out and I asked the Waiter/Owner which dishes could be prepared Gluten Free and he points to the pasta section and said, 'any of the pastas can be done gluten free'. He comes back later to take our orders and I ask for the Gnocchi. 'Sorry, we can't do that gluten free'. So I change my mind to the Lasagne. 'We can't do that gluten free either'. Turns out there were two pasta dishes that could be done gluten free and the risotto. So from 'all of the pasta can be done gluten free' to two pasta dishes and one risotto, seriously..... When the food comes out, the serving sizes were not even enough to fill my kids. My Dad had ordered the Gnocchi and there were exactly 8 pieces of Gnochci on the plate. 8 pieces of Gnocchi for around $30???? My Mum and daughter had the Lasagne and finished it in about three bites. My son had spaghetti and meatballs and the spaghetti had hard bits through it. I had and extremely small portion of risotto. Don't get me wrong, apart from the spaghetti the food was lovely, it was just so small for the price we paid. The Waiter/Owner comes around and asks how we are enjoying our food and my Mum says 'it's lovely, but a bit small'. The Waiter/Owner looks at us, grunts and walked away.Clearly he didn't like our comment because after that he came out and practically threw desert menu's on the table and then snatched them back when we said, 'just the bill please'. On the bill, we had been charged $10 for the water. My Mum had asked for water for the table, she hadn't asked for a $10 bottle of Italian Water that was actually worse than tap water.Overall a very disappointing experience and I would never go back, or recommend this place to any one.
What lovely staff. They are very welcoming and constantly checking on you. Meal is delicious well worth the price. Would definitely go back
Been going here the last couple of years & the food has always impressed, but, they are selling so who knows whether that will be a good or bad thing in the future.
Both my partner and I had very good food. Portions are small and expensive. We felt the staff were good but the place lacked ambience.
