We stumbled upon this having driven into porlezza for dinner. A lovely meal great seafood starter not for the squeamish! Inc baby octopus! Lovely chilli pasta and good sized pizza no service charge but great view of the lake. View all feedback.
What Ernie Sawayn doesn't like about Martina:
Lucky If you succeed to get a table (we have waited to long to be seated and have seen several partys leave) The soup tastes and looks right out of a sachet from the store, vert waterry.. the salad bar shows no creativity at all. The carbonare has a very strange aftertaste and almodt no contrnt and the escalopes?..... so for us,...they did not leave a good impression. Service is not efficient with a strange hierarchy... This restaurant may look appealing because of its cozy atmosphere and good view of the lake, but please avoid giving this place a visit for your own sake. As soon as you see all the hillarious typos in their poorly organized menu, you know you have come to the wrong place. With is written multiple times instead of with, and who doesn 't want a pizza with asparagusn ? The tables have different heights. The sides of the tables are too big for one person, and too small for two people. This forces someone to sit with an annoying table leg between their legs. The food is also disappointing. The tiny portions look like they all belong in the kid 's menu. Uncooked food is this restaurant 's specialty. Raw, red, sticky meat and cold tomato sauce tasted anything but delicious. They somehow even managed to mess up the Fanta, which tasted more like orange juice. The restaurant does not have any of the extra bonuses most Italian restaurants have, such as free appetizers, free water and ice cubes in the drinks. The service at this restaurant is nothing to brag about either. The incompetent waitresses rarely hand out new menus or new cutlery when new guests arrive. They can 't carry more than one plate at a time, and they mix up your orders. When you tell them you recieved the wrong order, they won 't appologize, but force you to wait 15-20 more minutes for the right dish. If you 're unlucky, you might have to wait about as long for the drinks and appetizers as for the main course. If you ever complain about anything, the waitresses get really grumpy. Their mood is pretty gloomy in general. The tables are very poorly lit up, to the point where you have to be careful not to stab yourself when trying to eat...
Okay. I was wondering why such a lakefront place had had so few reviews. Is it not good, do they not care, or only locals that like the place? I was optimistic with the few reviews. Yes, Right on the lake. Prices good if you stay away from the beef. BUT, the big thing is that many items are not homed like the pastas or desserts. I expect that from a dinner when on Holiday. They tell you its not homemade. I appreciate it . Food is average and would be acceptable for a lucy pasta or pizza with a view. Then go for it. Dinner, look into other possibilities. You may be better with other choices.

Not the Italian quality we are used to. Only the pizza was good Its a hotel restaurant. Just drive through the tunnel nearby and on your left there is a restaurant at the lake shore worth trying.

We had the pleasure of having a dinner date at the Restaurant Martina in Porlezza. What can I say: it was a unique experience; the setting along the Lake of Lugano with a magnificent sunset was enough to put us in the right mood. The Restaurant is cozy and elegant it has lights that make the women appear beautiful... do I need to mention the food after this?? We visited the place many times over the years , but now it has become classy hang out. The food is presented in a modern style and it is both pleasing to the eye and to any sophisticated gourmet. I recommend it for any important occasions. The setting is lovely, the food is excellent, the service is attentive to details and the price is RIGHT.
